    Hey guys,

This weekend I installed some Fabspeed cats and the Capristo Level 3 exhaust on my 430. Reassembly was pretty quick, but I've had a lot of trouble trying to get the tips in the center of the openings of the bumper. The exhaust tips are about 1/4" off the bottom of the bumper opening and both are slightly left-aligned. I've tried loosening up the cat/header joints, but that still didn't seem to give enough flex in the system for any adjustment.

Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe I'm missing something.

I might have to find a local shop and bring it over there and let them play with it, I spent all yesterday afternoon messing with it. :)

Mike- There is a factory tailpipe centering tool designed to take care of exactly the problem you are having. From the image, it appears to be made of plastic. You could probably have a woodshop make up something similar with holes drilled for the tailpipes. Out of town right now, but can look for the tech bulletin when I get back if nobody else has it.

Was Capristo contacted for advise? If so, what did they suggest? I have a feeling a little "friendly persuasion" is going to be necessary, that's probably what tool if for that Terry referred to.

One other thought. Sometimes worn motor mounts can cause exhaust tip alignment problems.

I emailed Capristo directly on Sunday when I kind of gave up trying to get them aligned. They forwarded my email to the reseller I bought the exhaust from and they called me monday morning. I sent them photos this morning but haven't heard back yet.

I'm not sure how much an alignment tool will help, because i can't even really 'push' the tips into the right position...I think I might have installed the muffler brackets wrong (maybe the bracket goes under the muffler/tip flange instead of on top?). That would probably lift the muffler about 1/4" and the tips about 1/4" as well, but they'd still be angled down.

If anyone is bored/curious you can see the photos I sent to the reseller this morning:

After messing with it a little more tonight, it seems like I just can't get enough adjustment from the cat pipe/header joint to get the muffler situated properly. There's no adjustment from the muffler to the tips.

Thanks for the info guys. I managed to get the tips aligned reasonably well today. It turns out the brackets were supposed to be bolted under the tip/muffler flange instead of on top, which lifted the entire system about 1/2" and seemed to straighten everything out. The brackets were pretty hard to get under the flange, but a little help from my jack and having my fingers crossed that the headers didn't crack did the charm. :)

Man... this exhaust plus the fabspeed cats sound amazing!
