Whats truly amazing, and i think we should focus on the positive and how lucky we are in the Ontario region.

We have a great resource of choices now that didnt exsist just 10 yrs ago...aside from the internet being a wealth of knowledge now....but look what we have, we have a strong number of shops with integrity to choose from, and you can shop around all day, and see what shop fits you best. How wonderful is that ? I wish to congratulate all the great shops around us that i have heard so many good things about. Keep up the great work, and get along.

    Thanks too :

    Tom B
    Rocks Auto
    Grand tourismo
    Daytona
Leo's shop that james and jhollywood talk about.

And of course, honorable mention to Paul N...even though he doesnt run his own shop to fix ferrari's his knowledge and trouble shooting of a ferrari on his own cars and sharing his thoughts with the community around the Ontario region is truly remarkable.

Lets just hope it stays this way, there are enough cars around here now, that all these places can make a good living, and alot of happy owners driving in the short 5 months we have , as oppossed to having the cars stuck in a garage for service....life is too short for all of us not to enjoy this passion which have come to know as "ferrari"

So very true,we have experienced nightmares with mechanics concerning Ferrari's...but once the car gets sorted out, what a blast to drive...I can still hear my Tubi ringing in my head at night

    ?!WHAT?!
I am so grateful for this thread and Fchat. It makes the Fcar experience a dream rather than what it could have been - a nightmare like the above post. That's nothing short of unbelievable. I assume this is for a 355 f-man?

I guess his shop rate is a reasonable $1200 an hour.

It's a pretty embarrassing place to be but I think my embarrassment is overshadowed by an obligation to the brotherhood. I will scan the invoices and post them tomorrow. Let it be a lesson to all on the chat. And at any meet. James, I'll call you in the morning.

    I should have known better.

That is terrible - $43,000???? What makes him think he can get away with that? you could have gotten another Ferrari for that (or close to) price???

Don't people first get an estimate before work starts on their car? I can't believe a shop will run up a bill to $43,000 without the ok of the car owner, and if there was an estimate and they went over by thousands of dollars then don't pay we have laws to protect you.

when a guy tells you that it's going to a certain figure and you are dealing with what you think is an esteemed brand and people associated with that brand it further compells you to trust. I manage alot of people and contractors, I don't have time to micromanage these things. Yeah, there are alot of things that could be managed better but you don't expect someone who has a limited market to be as stupid as this *********. You check and see.. it didn't kill me but spare me the judgement I'm already embarrassed, I'm coming out and showing my stupidity so that others stay on top in the future. $43,000.00 isn't as hard on me as it would be on others but it's a lesson just the same. I included picks of my cars for your enjoyment as well, (at least I had one to drive all summer).

    invoices 1st.

Jeff, I am sorry to hear of your story. This is truly sad. Hopefully others will learn this lesson. It's too bad you had to be the one to teach it.

On a happier note, you cars and also your looks look great!

you paid the taxes , however i do not see any GST number on he bill or even license number. i wonder if Tony pockets the tax money . by law he must have GST numbers and licnse number on bills . some one should look into if Tony busness is even registered.

I had never owned an f car before, I am mildly mechanically inclined however, I was afraid to touch it. I drove it back from San Diego site unseen where I bought it and the car met and exceeded my interpretations of the myth as many of you can attest. I think it was downtown lambo that referred me but anyway after talking to Tony it just seemed like he was the guy to handle my car. I had alot going on at the time and the quoting just seemed to run away with itself. Two huge projects took off and I started travelling almost non-stop for 14 months. Had virtually no problem with the car until a number of months ago and started researching pricing as I intended to work on the car myself . Then one thing led to another and after revisiting my invoice I realized I got hosed. I don't want to go into to much more detail then that because there may be litigation. I called and called also visited his shop but I couldn't track him down. Finally left him a final message to get back to me and he didn't so I decided to come out with it. I suspect the guys with the biggest problem are those witht the Dino's in his shop. With such a limited market, how can you treat guys like this? I talked to Alex at Daytona, they will be getting my Business from now on. And life goes on...

I'll bet anything that elle mcpherson has in her bathing suit that he did not put a water pump in your car.

Im sorry this all happened to you Jeff. I wonder if he has shut down his business. There are many that he has screwed and it will catch up to him soon. My buddy only wishes he was out $43,000. I was screwed but not for that much so I chalk it up as a life lesson although I may go after him in small claims court if I have the time. Looking at your invoices, did he return to you all the parts he replaced including the old headers? Those still have value even if they are cracked. There are lots of strange things on your invoice including the $1400 for the tensioner bearings(same as my bill) but he uses the hill engineering ones that are only $600. I wonder if you have those as well. My friend had many parts withheld and Im sure that some of those parts are on other peoples cars now. Anyway you will find the people at Daytona very refreshing......See you there one day.
