I don't think so, just a continuation of Max and Bernie - I really doubt we've seen the end of Max. (Sorry Steve)

This has all of the signs of a "be careful what you wish
    for" scenario.

Todt is in place just as Bernie and Max designed. Are the
predictions now that Max moves to the commercial side to
    officially become Bernie's henchman?

I would say the opposite. An unsurprising, but disappointing result. Max's rule carries on...

and immediately Todt had this to say:

"I wish to acknowledge the extraordinary achievements of Max Mosley’s 16 years as President of the FIA in both sport and mobility," Todt said during his campaign. "Under his leadership the sport has experienced unprecedented growth and global popularity. He has worked tirelessly to promote the FIA‘s major championships, and to make the sport as competitive, safe and affordable as possible. At all times he has strongly defended the independence and integrity of the Federation as the sport’s governing body."

I think Roots Mon may have hit upon the new senario for Max.

Great now we have two little man running the show. This can't be good. It will be more of the same crap with Todt replacing Mad Max. But then we know Mad Max will be the puppeteer behind Todt's decisions anyway.

    Carol

if you go to the various F1 and other motorsport websites the comments are 99% disappointed in the results and consensus is just more of the same old stuff

I think people are too disappointed to soon. Todt hasn't even done anything yet in the few hours he's been in power and people are already hanging him.

I'd give him the benefit of doubt.

I don't see that - if he leans in favour of Ferrari everyone will yell "bias" - if he leans the other way everyone but Ferrari will be happy - so bias is assured one way or the other.

    Not a good result :(

    Todt = Mosley 2.0

    Less height
    More french
    Same arrogance

Ari was a pretty abysmal contestant. But he was fighting an uphill battle from the start.

There are some hard people to please around. I guess I'm easy to please because I'm pretty happy that Max is no longer Pres.

The opening statement is exactly what he's supposed to say.

All the best to the new Pres.

because does anyone believe Todt represents the choice of the people more than Ari does?

It's a 'secret ballot', counted by the FIA... it was a foregone conclusion that Todt would win. It was a sham election. The existing FIA guys were all lobbying on his behalf.

Besides, it's a rigged system from the get-go when Nigeria gets the same vote as the entire USA.

Sham election, sham result, continuance of sham FIA governance.

I agree with Bas. Really, don't we care more about how this affects Formula 1 more than the the FIA's other governance? At least in Todt's case, he brings a closer affinity to the racing demands side of the equation, something with which Max lost touch long ago.

I think people are disappointed that Todt was chosen over Ari.

Todt is the same old same old. In fact, most of the people he brings with him into his administration are the same people that are there now with Mosley.

Furthermore, Mosley is in cahoots with Todt on various issues.

Furthermore it appears the people didn't get heard.

    A bad situation all around.

Will Todt be better than Mosley? Who knows. He's at least as political as Mosley. Will Todt be better than Ari? No way.

I don't trust Todt. But then again that may mean that now that he's elected he'll turn his back on Max:)
