The sound was glorious... no other way to describe it than orgasmic :). Btw sorry again that I couldnt get better pictures. I was trying to drive responsibly and snap pics with my phone at the same time haha... Which wasnt easy due to the fact that this was only my second 16M that I have seen and I was pretty excited.

Seeing those pictures also brings up question which has been on my mind for a while.

Is overtaking from the right on a highway legal in the US?

Here in Europe not only it's illegal, but it's also considered a very "cheap" and ungentlemanly maneuver.

I noticed that in the US in happens quite often.

We just don't like slow drivers in the left lane. If you are driving slow over here, it is common courtesy to get into the right lane. By law, slower traffic should get into the right lane, but I've certainly never seen it enforced. Although I have seen some people get pissed off by a slow driver in the left lane and then pass on the right fast in defiance.

Yes, the same holds true here.

Slow traffic goes to the right and faster traffic to the left....and one should always occupy the first empty lane to the right. However, if there is someone slower than yourself on the left lane, you just flash your lights and in 90% of cases they move to the right quite quickly. Overtaking from the right is something quite rare here.

Here in TX people putter down the interstate in the left lane sometimes 10 mph under the speed limit. You come up behind them and they are oblivious. I've flashed my beams, usually with no cooperation. Definitely different etiquette here vs. Europe. Can't help but have to go around them in the right hand lane.

I've actually had people brake check me when I flash to pass so I just pass on the right and keep on going.

    +1

If I come up on someone in the fast lane and they don't move over (there are so many people driving who seem to be in their own world) I just move over and pass them on the right.

Flashing high-beams typically pisses people off more and there's already enough exotic-haters on the road.

Regarding the 16M... God, TDF-Blue is one 2nd best color Ferrari makes... right after Red/Tan :)

"flashing" your lights is illegal in FL but yes, if you are in the left lane you will get honked or flashed and/or followed very closely.

There are no rules in America any more, at least in NJ. Not to start a complainers thread but people constantly pass me on the right when the lane to my left is clear. In NYC when I was turning left onto a side street I had people honk at me from behind when the pedestrian walk was totally full. When I was teaching my daughter to drive, if someone disagreed with her estimation of the room to go they would honk at her (on a Sunday afternoon). And I like the "if something is blocking their lane and they are approaching the road passable only on my side as I am approaching it, they take the view that whomever gets to the single lane section fastest ownes it." In my drivers manual, if your lane is blocked one may use the other direction's lane only when and if it is clear of ongcoming traffic. I mean their lane is blocked, not mine, they don't get to turn it into a free for all or a game of chicken. Clear rules of right of way speed traffic and avoid accidents.

Happens constantly here in CA and scares the crap out of me when I'm moving right in preparation to exit.

Looks nice, although the F430 Spiders look kind of hunchbacked with the top up.

Haha I wasn't going slow at all in the left lane (82ish cruise control)... I was actually going faster than him almost the whole time. He just had a very inconsistent speed (going from about 70 to about 85 the whole way). I do have to admit that I may have slowed a little bit once or twice just so that he would pass me and give me a decent pic :)
