The reason Todt won is because the FIA members are spineless swines with cemented minds, Mosley has scared the frigging lot, those that are sitting pretty would have had a wake up call under Ari..however a few were brave.

IMO Todt is not a fair sportsman ... it will be interesting to see him make decisions when Ferrari are under the cosh however IIRC he did not leave Ferrari on good terms, like that will matter to mass public who still haveFerrari International Assistance on there minds.

Todt’s fixation with Michael Schumacher and the farce it caused with his team mate.

Todt also in his WRC days tossed a frigging coin with guess who no other than Ari and his team mate to decide who should win the next deciding race, yes a real fair sporting jesture.

Todt's way IMO is win at any costs, my view sport is not about winning at any cost, It is about winning in the right way. Todt falls short.

I won't tow the party line folks I admire, I will be watching Todt closely, I do hope he will prove me wrong...but I'm not smiling at the prospect.

Oh yes you must enlighten me with Ari's personal attacks.. I do not know of these.

I cant wait for Todt to check out the 3 new teams thoroughly and pull the plug on the smoke'n'mirror folks and put Sauber-Ferrari in their grid spot.

I would hope and expect Todt to be very very busy putting alot of wrongs right.

I have read there are some interesting folk in line for the job as Formula 1 Commissioner.

Thankfully they are ex heads/CEO's of big international companies, with not much affiliation to any teams.

Also he planning to change the process of the F1 disciplinary panel and leaving more of it to be sorted by the World Council. .. encouraging if so.

Just in case anyone missed it...

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/79706

Newly elected FIA president Jean Todt has called on the governing body to be unified in the forthcoming days, following a bitter fight between himself and rival Ari Vatanen.

With the last days of the election battle being marred by threats of court action plus suggestions of unfair lobbying and vote buying, Todt has said he hopes that even those who voted against him can now look to a future in which the FIA works together to sort out its problems.

Speaking at a news conference after the election result, Todt was quoted as saying by Reuters: "I like action, I like to make things go forward and I am really happy to see that so many countries chose me but everything is yet to be done.

"The day the election is over, everybody must share the same goals, including those who did not support me. I am not closing the door to anybody."

Todt has said he will see through his plan to appoint commissioners to each of the FIA's world championships - and he has even hinted that friend Michael Schumacher could get a role within the governing body.

"I want to nominate commissioners because I am not intending to run Formula 1 as a first person," he said. "I don't want to underestimate the problems but success in my career has always been to have the right people in my teams."

Speaking about Schumacher, he said: "He is like a son. There has always been a place for him next to me and there will still be."

Todt's success in the election was welcomed by outgoing president Max Mosley, who was sure that the FIA could now look forward to a bright future.

"I'm happy with the outcome of the vote because FIA is in very good hands," Mosley told The Associated Press. "Todt is very capable of handling the job - he is a very honest and direct man. We couldn't have had somebody better than him."

With total confidence in Todt, Mosley said there was no suggestion of him maintaining any influence over the governing body.

"It's a relief because you never stop working at this post," he said. "You are always worried when incidents occur. It was a good time for me to leave. I'm going to take a holiday and then we'll see. As we say, the devil makes work for idle hands."

I wonder if his "happy feelings" would somewhat diminish if he found out those that voted for him simply did so because they were forced. ;)

So you're saying he's the polar opposite of you? :D

Well Max, actually you could have....you just wouldn't have been able to control him like Todt. ;)

Why does this statement worry me???

Yes Max...but what if you're the one who's the Devil???

    Sorry...just venting a little. ;)

We've already seen his idea of a holiday and his idle hands. I'm also not surprised to see Todt winning. I'm thinking he'll shake things up a little at first, but back to conformity/direction after a little while.

Yes it worries me and as regards MS sticking his oar in please!!....and lets not forget why Massa ended up driving for Ferrari. Massa is managed by Nicolas Todt, the son of Jean Todt!! ...I just hope Jean keeps his interest in F1 to a bare minimum.

Todt is just not detached enough from team affiliations, a nonpartisan leader was needed ..I'm going to blame Mosley for years for this.

Steve, if it turns out that Todt does an excellent job in charge (I know, hard for you to see it at the moment but lets give him a chance ), Will you be the first to accept you were wrong?.

(I already know that if he does the job as badly as you suspect, you'll be the first to say "told you so!" ;) )

Todt's first act should be banning anyone affiliated with a team from managing a driver.
PK Jr. would never have gotten a seat if Flav wasn't his manager and would have been out faster and cleaner as well.

Well my main concern was with Mosley with which I have zero zip nada respect for anything he says or does. IMO he used the FIA as his own personal vendetta battle ground.

So Todt was off to bad start straight away with me as Mosley wanted him to replace him in almost a desperate manner, with reported threats bribes ect.

And that makes me wonder why.

However I do hope Todt was boxing clever and used Mosleys support to win and thats it.

I would hope he will think carefully before designating roles within the FIA but branding about the name Schumacher is not want I want to hear, I want an independent removed from teams as it gets.

I will hold my hands high and say I was gladly wrong if Todt proves to be good and brings fair and transparent rules, and no nonsense consistant penalties/fines across the broad.

A good revamp of all the rules and consideration to what the paying public want.

Correct he has his work cut out for him if wants to do the right things, however I fear "green issues" will be high on his list.

As long as he kills a smoke'n'mirror team of the new 3 teams and puts legit Sauber-Ferrari in that spot, I'm happy.

    Me too.
I'm guessing that we'll find out in short order what sort of president he'll be. There are a number of key decisions to be taken.
