I didn't previously, but I think Clemson looks pretty good today! I'd definitely say TCU has had a better season than Boise, and the funny thing is that the very top teams keep squeeking out wins. Last week it was Florida, this week it is Alabama. The maddening ACC teams just can't stand any high rankings. The bowl projections for the aCC BCS team changes pretty much every week. Looks like GT is up for the next loss!
The Miami Clemson game was wildly entertaining, but unfortunately we came up just short. Oh well, we will still have a very good year, and I am pretty sure we will end the year ranked in the top 20. Next year I think we will be nationally competitive with more mature players that don't buy into the hype so much. For me, the top ACC teams are fun games to watch, so at least that is a big improvement over last year.
That Iowa finish was pretty awesome too!
    GO CANES!!!

Still waiting for the BCS, I'll post those rankings when I see them later today.
In the meantime, the AP. Another switcharoo at the top 2.

Don't let the score fool you, we squeaked by Miss State last nite. Dustin Doe took an interception back for a TD which clearly wasn't. It is obvious Tebow has apprehension throwing the ball since the concussion and our red zone performance has suffered. We play Georgia next week, they're hit or miss and the rest of the season we play doormats. I can see us going to the SECCG vs Alabama undefeated, whoever is throwing the ball well will probably win.

I think this is accurate: Florida offense is built around Tebow and he is starting to wear. We got our wake up call last weekend aganst Tennessee with a fumble from the guy that doesn't fumble.
    It's all focus now.
    Anything is possible.

At this point, one can truly make a case for any one of the three. As you can see, Texas did pick up 7 first place votes, and likely quite a few 2nd place votes.

I think Bama will eventually be a proven number 1 team at the end of the season. They are not there now. The key is McElroy getting in a groove. The only way this success I'm hoping for will happen, is if Bama dominates LSU and gets their passing game going.

Two weeks to rest and prepare. We shall see.

LSU is going to be a tough one. Lose and we're probably done...

And ditto what GatorFL said. Bama ain't the only top-tier team with things to work on...

If Alabama beats LSU, which is going to be the game this year, they will probably beat Florida..

Last night we went to pick up my youngest daughter from a party, and the parents of many of the kids were in the home theater watching the Florida game. I was wearing my Hurricanes t-shirt like I do every game day, and enjoying the night with a big smile on even though we had just lost. I have read about rude Gator fans for years but never really experienced it until last night. I thought they were mostly friendly and enthusiastic like Duane or my friend that I did an intership with. Not only did they start out trying to piss me off with a "You suck" routine which I brushed off, they were just sounding totally arrogant about the current gator team which any objective person would say is struggling a bit (the score was 16-13 at the time). Every play was either "a missed penalty against Miss St.", or some bogus "we should have had a TD on that for X reason"... I have seen the same thing from Miami fans at games, and it is really poor sportsmanship. I write off most of the Miami fans as eneducated, bandwagon types, but the group last night are all professional 'friends' (through my kids' school). We dropped about 8-10 spots in the polls, which is about par for the course (unless you are USC). I'm hoping USC gets to the championship game, another SEC / Big 12 would probably be a snoozer. If cincinnati gets there they will be a huge underdog to anyone from the SEC / Big 12 / Big 10 / Pac 10.

BT, sorry you encountered some ****** Gators. Every team has immature fans. I've seen them at Old Miss, Florida State, LSU and even Gators in Gainesville. I never played college football but I consider it poor sportsmanship by fans to be absolute jerks. Most people like that are bandwagoners, they aren't real fans. We all have up and down years.

For what it's worth we had a birthday party for Sarah today (she's 3) and some of the parents who came are UM season ticket holders. I spoke with them about the Hurricane game, I felt bad you guys lost. What was Whipple thinking getting all conservative at the end? They've lived all year with a lot of risk and all of a sudden reigned in the game and it turned out to lose them the game.

    BCS Week 2.
The gap is a bit bigger than it was last week between Bama and Texas.
Margin between FL and Bama is pretty much the same.

    Computers have Iowa at 1...lol.

I agree that they needed a tougher schedule in order to get any respect but this is what I am used to seeing. They were picked to lose to Clemson and went to their home and showed them how TCU plays. They were favored by 3 points yesterday against BYU and handily took the game home. AF is not a real team to be counted with too much but you have to realize the game was played at Colorado Springs in 19 degree temp with freezing rain and drizzle with a 20 mph wind and a frozen field. Very tough conditions for any team to play in. And I mean any team. How would Florida or Alabama do in the same conditions?

Since Gary Patterson assumed the role of head coach at TCU 9 years ago they have now won 80 games. Pretty successful run I would say. The last game Boise State lost was to TCU at the Poinsettia Bowl last year.............

I have no hopes of them ever receiving enough respect to ever get a nod at a potential championship. They will probably end up winning the Mountain West if all goes well but that will not put them in an automatic BCS bowl bid, even if they play their entire season undefeated. But then we all know how poorly rated the Mountain West is, don't we???

We will just have to wait and see they end the season...............

I will see you guys at the bowl,,,,,,,,which one???? No idea, after all it is mostly political and Patterson does not like playing games........Maybe a playoff schedule is becoming a better idea the more time passes.........

I didn't see the end of the game, but was surprised we got conservative at the end. Like you said, we have lived wild all year, why stop now? Anyway, I thought we looked pretty slow and unenthusiastic while I was watching, and I expected us to lose when I left my in-laws at the end of the third quarter.

Regarding poor fansmanship, I figure most of the crappy Miami fans I have seen are just there for the good times, the same must be for the Gator crowd I encountered. My feeling is that if I know someone pretty well and they understand my enthusiasm for Miami, some ribbing is all good, it makes the sport more fun to watch. I would not be offended if any of the regulars on this thread gave me some crap about our loss, excuses are for losers! However, I would not consider putting down a stranger just because they are wearing a team logo.

One of my good friends is a transplant from Indiana and was always a die hard Notre Dame fan. This year he hopes the school burns down and that the team gets disbanded. Something about a political protest by a pro-catholic activist getting arrested with the school's blessing when Obama came to give a speech. My friend is really fired up about this. The race for the championship game takes this week off, but it should start to get interesting the following week.

    GO CANES!!!

Those are pretty terrible conditions. I'm curious as to how two teams would play at an empty indoor stadium (zero weather or fan factors playing into it) with only coaches and players. That would be really interesting imo....

I can see TCU in one of the BCS games, but you never know when it comes to the championship. FL is a 16 point favorite to UGA this weekend and I don't think we'll cover it. In fact, I think we may lose one game this season so TCU could find its way in. Similar to how BYU got in back in '84 after UF screwed up a lot of stuff (recruiting violations ;) ).

Starts off with LSU then gets to a meaningful discussion: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?page=roadtobcs/0903

    snippet:

"...but there's one other team that might not need any outside assistance to reach the top 2 by the end of the regular season.

That's LSU. Yes, No. 9 LSU.

Iowa, USC, TCU, Boise State and Cincinnati all rank ahead of the Tigers in this week's BCS standings, but those teams don't have a closing schedule that would enable them to jump over Texas or the SEC champion. LSU's advantage is that it can become the SEC champion just by winning its remaining games...

Perhaps the greatest BCS impact from Saturday's games was made by TCU's dominating victory at BYU.

With the Horned Frogs moving up to No. 6 this week, it's impossible to deny that there's now a legitimate race for the "BCS buster" spot between TCU and No. 7 Boise State, and both teams will be scrutinized greatly over the next six weeks because of it. Those who vote in the coaches' and Harris polls had better be prepared to evaluate these teams against each other, because the odds are good that both will finish the regular season unbeaten..."

TCU is playing lowly ranked (I mean way down there in the depths somewhere, 3 and 5) UNLV at home for Homecoming. The Frogs are favored by 32 points but you know, that kind of scares me. UNLV has nothing to lose and everything to gain by coming out guns blazing against the Frogs. If Patterson were to let the Frogs be lulled to sleep by playing a non-ranked opponent with a terrible record things could get devastating.\\

I do not see that actually happening as I believe Patterson is a much more savvy coach than to allow that to happen. But, stranger things have happened..........

One game at a time Frogs,,,,,,one at a time......

    1. Consensus All-American defensive end Jerry Hughes
    2. QB Andy Dalton, a junior on the verge of breaking several TCU scoring and passing records this year.
    3. Then Sophomore QB Andy Dalton after leading the Horned Frogs in a come from behind win over previously undefeated Boise State 17-16 at Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego last year. (The only game Boise State has lost in two years)

Just returned from the TCU/UNLV game. Sort of a lackluster performance by TCU but they still came out with a 41-0 win. UNLV tried to play tough but just could not hold it together against a top contender.

I was looking at the season stats for TCU before the game started and saw that TCU had held their opponents through seven games to a 12 point average per game while averaging 32. Todays shutout will bring them to about a 10 point per game average and up their average to 33.

Boise State also beat San Jose State 45-7 so it will really go down to the last game or so to determine how the final rankings will come out. TCU plays Utah at home the final game of the regular season.........Should pack the stadium......
