Ok, so I recently got a 37" LCD HDTV Vizio with 1080p (http://images.aandhmarketing.com/bigpics/vizio/voj37lf.jpg) I had a 32" 720p beforehand. (this one http://www.softsailor.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Vizio-VW32L-32-inch-720p-LCD-HDTV.jpg) Now the problem is when i hook up my Xbox 360 via HDMI in 1080p the quality looks about half as good as my previous in 720p. Before it was clear crisp and vivid even without messing with the settings, now its the opposite and I constantly find myself messing with the color, brightness, contrast etc.. and am still not satisfied. So the question is, Is the TV actually worse or am I missing something here? Thanks
Thanks, yeah that cleared up some stuff but I dont understand it fully. So theres no way I can get good quality with HDMI on this tv? Even when I switch to 720p or 1080i on the xbox settings it still looks crappy, I dont want to have to have to go back to a smaller tv.
I have that exact TV in 32". I am running 1080p from a PS3 using HDMI with no problems. I am also running Linux as a second OS on the PS3 and was successful in getting it to feed a 1080p signal as well. My TV looks sharp and clear. Perhaps you need a new cable?
Try going to curtpalme.com. It is a home theater forum that is primarily for CRT projectors, but there is a sub-forum for direct view TV's. The people there are very, very knowledgeable and there is a tech that responds to questions that is amazing. He sometimes gets into board level repairs in his postings. His screen name is "Macguyver"
Check out monoprice.com if you have to replace your cables. They sell quality cables that don't cost an arm and a leg. I use a HDMI and a DVI to HDMI cable from them with my 32" Visio 720p plasma.
