James this line caught my attention> Also one quick point; RECALL CLEARANCE LETTERS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED BY THE R.I.V ANYMORE ONLY LETTERS FROM THE MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES,(screen shot) What is to stop the manufacturer from simply saying 'we don't have any staff to handle this request during the next six months'. Would that block the importation, if they will not provide the letter required? Imports obviously undermine the price structure in the home market the manufacturer is trying to prop up prices in. CH
Yes. I just brought an 05 Gallardo in September. The car came from Denver. The car is awsome in everyway.
yes as long as a lambo dealer will give me the doc I need but I always make the doc part of the condition of the sale. Please email me directly if you'd like? [email protected]
I just went on the RIV website and here's what they have to say about important Ferraris: Ferrari North America, Inc. requires that importers contact an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership to determine exact nature and costs of modifications and specifies that ALL modifications MUST be performed by an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership. For recall letter, contact Ferrari North America, Inc. in U.S.A. at 1-201-816-2600 after vehicle inspection. Modifications must be performed by an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership. For Ferrari dealership information, please visit www.ferrariusa.com So how can you get around contacting an authorized ferrari dealer? I have an '05 F430 that I'd like to import.
I always have and always will go around a dealer as long as theres a viable legal option, and if I told everyone how I did everything I would have a business.
Anyone want a 'cheap' 348? LOL http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=264719250&dealer_id=1392051&car_year=1994&rdm=1257954894359&lastStartYear=1981&model=&num_records=100&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=__MzQ4__&keywordsrep=051052056&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=FER&keywords_display=348&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceASC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=34102&advanced=y&end_year=2010&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=1028&standard=false I imagine with winter coming combined with the recession and the strong CDN $, there will be some great cross boarder deals coming up. Do a search on autotrader.com (U.S version) for F355's and 360's... some great ones there too.
not letting me quote ryan's post.... But the "cheap" 348 has been sold, had three people for it too....but anyways SOLD! and yes Ryan I agree 100% theres sooo many deals out there right now with more on the way!
I assumed it wouldn't last long at that price. James, if you ever need me to check out a car for ya in my neck of the woods just let me know. Another car that is considerably cheaper in the U.S (with a dealer/service network in every town in N.A) is a Z06. Some 2006 and 2007's going for the in high $30's... insane! So much car for the money...
I see a lot of people complaining about transmission and clutch problems with the C6 Z06 model. One 2009 trans even in a brand new less than 1,000 miles Z06 failed. Maybe the guys can't drive a stick but I doubt that is the problem. 2007 is a bad year for the Z06 especially Jan to Aug build period of that year. Needle bearings and rockers > PPI... CH
Hi James, i am thinking of importing a 355 1996 could you give me any tips i'm from montreal QC. Thanks
hire someone who knows what they're doing, not someone who say's they can someone who actually HAS imported Ferrari's before. Cheers!
also apparentley things have changed ONCE AGAIN at the R.I.V and now apparentley dealer written recall clearance letters are accepted again, but approximately a month ago they're were not.
So a recall letter from the dealership I get the Car from would suffice (doesn't have to be from Ferrari of NA)? And can the RIV inspection be done at any certified place (like Canadian Tire), or does it have to be done at a Ferrari Dealership (like it says on the RIV homepage)? Thanks
If you're dealership will give it to you then yes it will be acceptable AS LONG as it accompany's a print out from their service computer showing no outstanding recall campaign's. And yes cdn tire.
Does anyone know if it is possible to import a 05-07 Lambo G. or M. into Canada ? Any modification required ? Can$ is high now; it seems it is a good opportunity to import some good toys from US ...
I'm looking at bringing in a 1995 (built in January 1995) 456. So it is officially over 15 years old. From my understanding, I don't have to do any mods (ie DRL), I just need to pay GST & I'm not sure if I have to pay duty since it was made in Italy? Do I have this right: - fax the title to the border crossing where the vehicle will cross 3 business days in advance of export - obtain insurance coverage - arrive at the border with bill of sale, original title, proof of clear title (no liens) - US side: present original title and bill of sale, have the VIN examined - Canadian side: pay GST & fill out importation form (but I'm not sure if I have to pay duty, AC charge) - Once in Canada, do I need to get safety inspection and e-test? (I read somewhere you still need the Canadian Tire test in order to register the car, but I'm not sure if this applies to cars that are over 15 yrs old) - Take safety and e-test to Ministry of Transportation office, pay PST, registration fee, purchase plates Is this right? I guess my question is with a car that is over 15 years old, do I need still get a safety and emissions test done before I can register the car with the province? I'm also not clear about the duty, do you pay duty on a car that is not made in the US, regardless of its age? Thanks in advance!
I have brought up several Gallardo's in the past year. It is not difficult at all. If you like I can forward you info on how I did it. Omer
