I heard through the grapewine that Ferrari will use the "GTO" acronym for the next "Super Ferrari".

    Anyone knows anything?

I was under the impression they were going to use those three letters for a limited edition 599, as discussed here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261576

I hope they don't take the simplistic class of the 288 and turn into a spaceship like vehicle like the Enzo. Although the Enzo is a nice looking car and serves it's place, it's style of design and most modern supercars are unlike the GTO.

Just another piece of news to make my day a bit brighter! Seems the Sun may "indeed" shine next Spring on the gates of Maranello :)

How poetic. From a video in the factory, I heard a Ferrari rep say "...we've never named a Ferrari after a driver before." Seriously.

I hope they don't take the simplistic class of the 250 GTO (the real GTO) and turn it into a spaceship like vehicle :) just having a lil fun

Schumacher is too weird of a name for an Italian car, and despite his immense success with the Scuderia, I think the 'Ferrari MS' would be odd. Besides Ferrari did the Schumacher Edition 456s and, I think, 550 Maranellos.

Now if they named a Ferrari after Nuvolari, that would be cool! They could put turtle badges on the rear grille a la the 16M! How awesome would that be?!?

About 18 months ago Ferrari applied for a patent or trade mark for the words California GT and GTO. California GT has obviously been used so GTO is up next.

... I've thought the exact same thing. They wouldn't be able to do Ascari based on the manufacturer, Ascari. Something like 700Prost would be fine or 750Lauda. I honestly think Nuvolari would be more fitting though.

Which would be perfect to bring back. It began the Ferrari Supercar and should be remembered in a future model.

I would hope they would dedicate a brand new model to be called the GTO, as the 599 is too luxurious and grossly overweight to follow that line. And the F430 range has already been well represented.

Whatever, they do, they will have their work cut out for them in the stying dept, following 2 of the most beautiful cars EVER! I would hope they would keep it to not more than 3000 lbs max, which is not easy to do in a modern car, especially one with a V-12. But perhaps it could be a high revving F1 inspired V-10, that would be interesting.....

    Correct!

But I don't think that it's a mega big secret, unlike the new supercar........

Lol, nice way to poke the fire. :D

I don't think they would do a Nuvolari since Audi already did a concept car with his name.
