Silly. Typical media hypersensitivity. Montoya brushed off the whole episode, as you would expect. Griese is a classy guy and I seriously doubt he meant any disrespect to JPM, who's also pretty loaded up in the class department.

Too bad for Griese. Of all the incredibly stupid things
sportscasters (regardless of sport) say during the course
of their broadcasts, this flippant remark seems rather
tame.

To be sure, if the networks sat their announcers down
and forced them to read transcripts of their seemingly
endless lists of inane diatribes rather than encouraging
them to fill every available second with endless blather,
incidents like this would come to an end.

Our society is way too sensitive now. Griese can't say "taco" but an NFL Player gets 24 days in jail for vehicular manslaughter.

Wouldn't saying he is probably out drinking coffee been more accurate, I mean being from Colombia and all?

Maybe the comment is not insulting but it is of concern because it shows ignorance.

Assuming that everyone who is not white and speaks Spanish is a Mexican?

 

If sports announcers were suspended for saying something ingnorant the'y all be out of work, as would most of us who haven't yet achieved perfection. Maybe a better solution would be for everybody to get over themselves and put away their hypersensitivity.
