I know some of you are racers, so thought I'd give this a try. We're looking for a private track rental in the southeast, Roebling, CMP, VIR etc, November 1-4 or after the 10th. Testing one car, a sports racer that is comparable to an Atlantic in lap times. I'm going to contact the tracks directly, but thought someone might have a date already and want to share.

Take a look at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC.
I've tested there a couple times. It's a good combination of fast sweepers and tight technical turns. Relatively cheap too.

It's a good idea to call the tracks directly. They often will put you in touch with someone that has already rented the track for a test day.

Is it an open wheel car? We have 3 days at Daytona from the 12 - 15.

    Thanks for the replies!

John - I've rented both CMP and Roebling in the past, was sort of fishing here to see if anyone already had a day reserved. Agree that CMP is reasonably priced and in my experience they are private rental friendly. I've found that, once I have a date, I always get a few calls from people who want to join me - there seems to be pretty strong demand for test days. CMP would probably be better than Roebling for what we want to do - VIR full course would be perfect but expensive. This late in the year, the south beckons.

Italiancars - It's a carbon fiber sports racer (open cockpit), too fast and too light to safely run with sedans. Daytona would be fun though, hope you get great weather!

Mark, I love Atlanta, one of my favorite tracks, but my car doesn't play well with street cars/sedans.

Feff, you're a lot of fun but Will's car is fifteen to twenty seconds a lap quicker than the fastest cars in your Advanced group...

Not a great deal off of the times John's done in the Reynard Champ car and quicker than the McLaren.

To do proper testing, the car needs to be able to circulate unfettered.

what about checking with some of the vintage racing groups (VARA, VSCRA, etc)? surely some of those guys get together and do track days/rentals for S&G's.

I've found the best way is to call Kevin at VIR, Brian or Jo at CMP, Richard or his wife at Roebling directly and tell them what you want. They all keep a short list of people looking to share low density test days in the short and longer terms. The insurance companies often offer less expensive "testing" cover if 6 or less cars are on track, which I think is what Will is looking for.

Heck, Will. Not sure you couldn't piggyback with the limited GA team at VIR in November, two weeks AFTER the public days November 3-4. Call Kevin at ext 104.

I have dates on hold at Palm Beach Intl. Raceway in West Palm Beach, FL, and a handful of clients that are looking to share for a day. We are all also interested in Sebring and Homestead.

If you're interested in coming this far south, please give me a call & I'm sure we can arrange a day or two with similar cars and affordable prices split between all of us.
