Ebay Ferrari Dino listing #130340551133 1972 246 Dino, the first chairs & flairs car being auctioned at NO reserve? One picture. Car is allegedly in Lake Wales, Florida. Strange, this is the exact same picture from when Carsclassic had it for sale in California. The car is now listed as sold. www.carsclassic.com Gentlemen, this smells like a scam. Do any of you know this car?
Car is still there for me. What strikes me as odd, along with a number of things, is the clapper windshield wipers. I thought, although I may well be mistaken, that by the time that the gts was rolling off the factory floor the windshield wipers had been updated to the later version. Please correct me. Jim S.
Well, both Dinos in the ad are marked as sold on my browser and are not clickable. As far as the wipers are concerned, my car is 07412 (Nov. '03 production) and it has the clapping wipers. It is a RHD Euro model, so perhaps that has something to do with it. Jim, if you refresh your browser, perhaps the car will vanish from the site. Dan
It's still there. The oldest Dino listed: "1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS" Besides copying the picture, the guy also uses some of the exact same phrases from the old ad of Carsclassic.
I know this car. It was next to my car at the PV Concours only about a month ago. (Photo below) The owner told me it is the first one of only two Euro chairs-and-flairs Dinos ever produced. This car has two very unusual features which were part of the package from the factory, according to the owner: Black spokes on the Dino steering wheel and two small driving lights under the front bumper. You can see those lights on one of the photos from carsclassic.com. It is owned by Sarkis Kassardjian of Palos Verdes Estates, CA unless he has sold it in the last couple of weeks! The eBay listing is definitely fraudulent. Without reserve? In Florida? Only one photo? Not only does the seller use the same text as the old listing on carsclassic.com, he even copied the spelling mistakes! (example: body striped instead of stripped). Hope nobody is tempted to send a deposit on it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, The earlier of my two Dinos, #03964, has clapper wipers. My later one, #04808, has the parallel ones. I have seen Dinos with earlier numbers than this Euro GTS that also had the parallel wipers. Maybe it's because it's a Euro car. I know that all the RHD Dinos had the clapper-style wipers, since the factory apparently didn't want to retool to reverse the direction of the wipers. Fred
I just talked to the owner. He confirmed that the car is safely in his garage in California and not for sale! We should always keep an eye on Dinos on eBay. The anonymity of that marketplace seems to invite fraudsters. Good work, Zarathustra!
Hello fellow dino owners Wanted to thank Lars for bringing this to my attention. I am actually the proud owner of the 1972 Dino #04676, and it is in my garage and E bay posting is a scam! As you can see from the pictures I have replaced the side mirrors. I will also contact Cars with Class in Santa Monica where I bought the car almost 3 years ago. This is "car identity theft". Thanks to all. Sarkis
