Front-engined 2+2 set to slot in above 911, Based on Panamera, with hybrid on the way

So, it looks pretty good, has a Jaguar/Aston Martin look to it, I just don't like the front end at all. Too busy looking.

funny, asked my dealer about a Panamera-based 928 yesterday and he said he's gotten nothing but denials from Porsche NA about it...

    I hope he's wrong!

I'd prefer fewer slats in the air intakes, but I much prefer this car to the Panamera. I do find the back treatment a bit too XK8 Jaguar-ish. But overall, I like it.

yes, very similar to the Jag, but i really like it! but for me, the front grills need to be a bit 'toned down'...round out the fenders a bit more and this would be a wicked GT...

928 has always been my all time favorite. They were not too much larger than the 911s, less than 3" in length, 1.1" in width, and slightly lower height. I hope the new version would also be close to the current 911s and not closer to the Panameras.

There's a hint of BMW 6 series (Bangle edition) in the sides.

It does look pretty good overall, although I still wish they would kill the Panamera last week. The Aston V8 Vantage is still the looker, though.

Much better than the AMC Pacer-like original. (Sorry, just could never warm up to it...)

The rear is exactly the same as the Jag/Aston, so me thinks this is a p-shop combo of the panamera, jag xk, and AMV8. I do like it, though, FWIW.

Corvette front end mated with an Aston Martin rear end. I think it looks good.

As if to say, This C-lassy car would go 190, were it not restricted.

    Or something.

    Not bad. Not great.

A little too derivative for me. Too much Jag and AM in there...

Lacks the charm of the original 928. I miss the days when cars had unique styling.

Id rather drive a well kept 928

The original 928 was a clean sheet design in every way (part of the problem with it being accepted). Today's Porsche should be daring enough to try a new look (especially front end) and they would probably do better.
You could debate mid engine/rear engine vs. front engine all day, but there is no doubt that a front engine car has tons more usable storage space.
If Porsche did a new car that looked like the old 928 but had modern components they would probably sell a lot of them. Many new retro cars have done well: new beetle, mustang, etc.
