Off to IA again for another quick fix .. taking Mrs K with me which might be dangerous with Mike's car on the showroom floor.
Oh Jon .. right up your alley. I saw at IA yesterday a pigeon pair of 328GTB & 328GTS in almost concourse condition .. absolutely amazing & they are for sale, although the owner wants to keep them together. Well worth taking a look!
Good luck mate Well, people here are pampered & it's a city state so auto makes sense. The problem with F1 systems so far is unless you engage neutral, they are always biting the clutch even @ stationery & the amount of torque sending to it spinning away when you are in crawling speed or upslopes makes you judder & especially bad when cold. While you're stepping on the brake to slow the bugger down, it burns the clutch, ever smell that grilled composite fragrant That's what I understand. Furthermore, there is a lifespan in the actuators/pumps. Once those fail, you're a sitting duck that cannot even be pushed! In manual, we can always drop it to neutral for the car to glide along or feel the biting point & control the car. Even more statisfying if you can match the revs & blips. Lovely. On the other hand I was reading up on the GT3 & realised it has under 300Nm, quite paltry when you see that Bentleys have easily double that but it's always in the weight. The F1 is still the king simply because it is so light & the big Pagani is just a ton odd as well. I read that the Nissan 370Z has an interesting synchro mesh button which helps to blip as well. Cool.
Thanks mate. One of them was ex-Lung's that was offered to me many year ago & it finally ended up with this ID guy who restored them to concourse. They were featured in a TV show sometime back. A lot of moolah now though
Oh my, check out this video of a Bugatti. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcn3K_bgLuQ&feature=player_embedded
Yup... except for the pain in the butt later... the Scud seating is not ideal for comfort driving... feel too much of the ground for long haul driving.
U know what they are asking for? 3 years ago I tried sitting in a 328 again.. I felt squeezed in. Derek, the car might flip on its side if you get it ...ahahaha... sorry couldn't help myself.
I don't think the clutch engages unless you step on the throttle in the newer F1 systems. I can sort of feel the clutch engaging once I depress past a certain threshold in gear 1, like the same sort of feeling you'd expect to get when you put half clutch in a manual car. That slight increase in vibration. But you're right, in a manual, it's far more rewarding to match the revs and blip! It's not so rewarding for me because I miss more often than not Btw, what are the actuators/pumps? I'm completely mechnically uninclined. I read about this too, but doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of driving a manual? It's like um... assisted manual, and IMO the most fun part about driving a manual is doing nice, accurate downshift blips.
Wow respect! I had no idea your DBS was manual. Do Astons have the gated shifter that Ferraris and Lambos have? Sadly enough, I think the new dual-clutch transmissions in the California and the 458 might not blip throttle on the downshifts
