Was driving back into Frisco Sunday, NB on the tollway when a new Black 430 from Boardwalk passed by us without even a honk or wave. Exited the same exit as us and we were right behind him at the light and you could see he was doing his best not to look in the rearview mirror.

Anyone else ever experience this? Only thing I could think of was that he thought by owning a newer model, he thought he was above acknowledging us. Maybe I am over analyzing it, but it was quite apparent this guy didn't prescribe to the idea of a brotherhood.

Or his idea of a brotherhood is not the same as yours. It's probably his wife's Ferrari and he doesn't wave at anyone but fellow Veyron drivers.

We tell people not to wave until they figure out how to work the radio and pair their phone.

Nah. When we first saw him, he was passing right beside us going down the tollway. Probably over reacting, but it irked me since I am always excited and happy to see and acknowledge other owners and they have always done the same with me.

I sort of felt like Pei-Mei with the Shoalin monk. :D

You obviously didn't leave your heart in San Francisco. Don't let it get you down. The nice people in the world make up for the alternative nasty ones - I hope. There's generally always a bad apple in a box full of apples. I'm heading for San Francisco for a few nights in May next year so I hope all the other locals are friendlier than the guy in question.

Lately I've heard some vendors talk about "those Frisco (insert plural insult here)."

Uh, since when has frisco become so uppity? I thought the HP/UP crowd held crown to this attitude.

Kidding about the HP/UP thing of course. I think. Us Lakewood folks are just on the outside looking in:)

Wrong Frisco, but I admire your thoughts being in the right place! Frisco, TX is a 'burb of Dallas, TX.

How could I miss this thread!?! LOL, what I have seen in my 10 years around the DFW Ferrari scene you have two major groups with only a little overlap. There are the late model owners and then there are the club member enthusiasts. From the dealerships perspective they love the late model owners because they don’t waste time and buy each new model that comes out flipping their previous one. They have enough money not to care and limited time and interest to know more than car was on Road & Track cover. The “enthusiasts” are the dealerships worse nightmare as they are professional tire kickers, can’t buy 20% of what they pretend they can buy, and have the time and enthusiasm to know everything (often thinking they know more than the dealer). The FCA and FerrariChat are mostly made up of the “enthusiasts” as the late model owners don’t have available time after running their business and jet setting the world. You won’t get a wave from the late model owner group as they really don’t care about anyone else and most likely had no idea you were in a Ferrari because they don’t know anything about other models or even who Enzo was.

    :D:D:D – I hope I made fun of each group equally. ;)

    Hey Mike,

I notice from your profile that you've got a 348 (nice choice, it's my dream car) and the guy who didn't wave was in a current production Ferrari. If it makes you feel any better, this snobbishness between differing eras of production carries over into other marques as well...

I drive a 2004 MINI and although I wave at the drivers of Classic (pre-2000) Minis as well as the MINI drivers, I often get ignored by the former. In a few extreme cases, I've also had Classic Mini owners give me 'the finger' for having the audacity to wave at them from my 'BMW'. :(

BMW have now moved on to a second generation of their modern production MINI and although I wave at these drivers too, I've found that current production owners will ignore the 1st generation MINI drivers. Not had any fingers extended in my direction from this crowd yet, but certainly not feeling any love.

Cheer up. You own a fabulous car and don't need its awesomeness validated for you by other drivers. Think of the return wave as an unexpected perk when it inevitably will come - that's what I do in my MINI. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Funny thing. I was driving the 2010 Camaro last week and had all manner of pick up, van car tanker and Yugo honking and waving at me Some with thumbs up most with smiles... but I also had 3 kids in a clapped out sentra want to race me then almost run into me as one of the kids tried to camera phone video me while driving.... In a Camaro.

Rob is spot on with his assessment of the dealer enthusiast relationship. Sometimes the enthusiast does know more of the endless minutia of a particular car, and as we have seen on this site MANY times those who don't own or can't own are no less enthusiastic.

Frisco is the land of the Neuvo Riche. Some are complete a-holes and some are completely nice down to earth people with a 75--- zip code

I don't seem to fit in either of the "two major groups". I'm too ignorant to be an enthusiast and too poor to be in the other group.
