I have a friend looking for a very nice 928 GTS (the last generation of the 928) If anyone has any info on one in excellent shape please PM me or post. Not as many out there as I expected.

    Thanks,
    Greg

I sold those when they were new at our dealer.

From 1992-1995 we delivered 3 in total compared to just over 100 911's in that period..............problem was they cost a lot more than a new house did........and they were $20K more than a nicely optioned 911. They were perceived as an expensive old car by then, that was long in the tooth. True, but irrelevant if you were lucky enough to able to put one thru it's paces.

A shame really, the 928 GTS was the best GT car ever made to this date IMHO.

Be patient, they will surface, but good low mileage ones easily pull big bucks......$50K +......

Why not just get a nice s4 or gt and save tons of money?

Check Rennlist in the 928 section, a nice '93 black/tan 5 speed is fs @$35k.
There is another '94 for sale in the san fran craig's list, same money but seems pretty nice; midnight blue 5 speed (was converted from an a/t). Most would pass on the 5 speed conversion, but the trans used was an '87-'88 box which has better gearing in my opinion.

Willhoit has a few nice GTS's most of the time. Not cheap, but always very nice.
The last big $$$ numbers for recent GTS sales is $103.5k, $92k and $89k... The range is from about $25k and up. $40k+ will get something nice.

He does, but if you buy from him you should arrange your own inspection. I bought a 993 from him a while back and it had "passed" his "100-point inspection" with old bald tires, a cracking fan belt and moderate oil leak.

No argument here, but it is hard to find a GTS 5 speed when there were probably only 100 total sold in the US from '93 to '95. Quite a few have stories and are not original. very few 928s need nothing... Assume $10k into any 928 to get it up to date.

Is your 928 supercharged? You posted the launching/drag videos, right?

I'd like to buy the last 928 ever made for the US market........it was Metallic Lime Green with a medium blue full leather interior and a 5 speed.

I had a black/magenta interior (light purple) 5 speed demo for 2 months........what a horny car. The stripper chicks I was bangin' dug it......

That car sold 2 years ago for $62k, if that ad is real that would be a deal. A/T though.

No supercharger here. I have thought about it but these cars have enough drama to ownership that I don't want to add to it.

Thanks for the leads. The white one looks perfect but white is the one color that he didn't want.

    Thanks again,
    Greg

That pearl white was an extra $12k, and there is only one other known pearl white and it is an '87 5 speed. Too bad not into white, I would take any color at this point- I like them all.
I am spoiled with black/black; common but popular. Every speck of dirt stands out.

That car is like the holy grail of GTS's: sticker price of $171+k for every weird option and color but it is an automatic...

    Check out Chuck Z's 928 registry www.928registry.org
He is also an excellent guy to consult if you are looking for a GTS as he knows them all and their stories. His email is [email protected]

I remember looking at that car when it was brand new at Champion in Pompano. It was sitting outside for quite a while and the color combination was definitely... memorable.

On an unrelated note, first 928 I drove was a 5 speed 1978 model. I was 16 years old. My love of muscle cars was forever warped after that drive and I began to understand why people paid the price premium for Porsches.

The guy who ordered it backed out when he learned it wouldn't be the last GTS, as the Porsche museum has the last one- a midnight blue 5 speed.
I had a '78 928 5 speed back in '92 and drove the wheels off it... that's why I have one now.

It's not a GT, but I'm preparing my 928 for sale as I search for a Mondial. It's an 87 S4, black with black interior, 5-speed, limited slip, sunroof, approx 125K miles. Good mechanical and cosmetic shape, timing belt/water pump within last 2 years. Stack of service records. If you're interested, I should have some photos by the weekend.

Mine is also an '87 black/black 5 speed with limited slip. I highly recommend the '87-'88 because of the gearing which gets a lot shorter from '89 to '95. I have been into 928s for a long time and with an '87-'88 you aren't missing anything, especially with regards to cost. The '90 and up had an oil cooler mounted under the radiator that is very vulnerable to damage from a parking curb or scrape, and "PSD" rear locking differential that feels different to drive and has a pump that is $3-4k to replace and is NLA now anyways.
There are a few other differences, but those are the biggies: gearing, oil cooler, and PSD.
