Up or down will they make the grid with a US based team under the USF1 banner?
Dave I think you needed some other options : Who cares/haven't a clue. More chance a cluster of colour blind hedgehogs in a bag being on the grid. Personally I think they are the least convincing team, to think there going to be on the grid appears to be clearly a minority. But who knows, F1 never ceases to amaze me.
The question was phrased so as to exclude the lunatic fringe Those who don't care or don't know or don't care to know need not reply.
Oh well that psychiatrist must have been right, that I visited wearing only cling film for shorts. The shrink said, "Well, I can clearly see you're nuts.".. Ohh my head ...I'm at deaths door ...and no Dave don't open it..
I can only say that if I had a real F1 team, with a real car under construction in a real factory, and the credibility of my operation was being questioned, I certainly would have shown more than we saw in last Sunday's fluff piece on SPEED. Based on that, which is all I have to go on, I would have to say no.
i am told they are cutting molds at a rapid rate. they are trying to build a car for certain. will they finish?? that is also a concern of mine but according to a friend of mine, they are moving despite what the "front office" shop visit indicated. i may go take a look next week as i am certain i can get past the gate keeper. i will also mention that i am a representative from the uber powerful group...f-chat and that we need to see proof!!!! pcb
To me, it's no longer a question of whether or not they will implode, but when. Here's an idea for a poll: The USF1 implosion (i.e. admission that they will not have a car on the grid in 2010) will occur: Before 12/31/09 Before 1/31/10 Before 2/28/10 Before 3/12/10 (Bahrain race date)
Two thoughts; Gunther Steiner (ex-Jaguar F1); has a composite shop in Charlotte; I wonder if the tub is being produced there. Also McLaren has an office for McLaren electronics in Charlotte. Incorporating the ecu with McLaren that close should not be too difficult who knows though, until we see more...
i think i posted this in another thread but i will repeat. i have been involved in racing in one form or another for many years and one thing that all teams would do or try was to get parts and equipment for free, ask for payment terms or pay with a credit card. usf1 has bought several pcs. of equipment from a friend of mine that included a 5 axis router. he was impressed that they paid w/o terms and that the check cleared! he was further impressed w/ the engineers that he trained on the equipment. so...i guess we will see. i may go to summit coffee tomorrow in davidson to see if i can run into pw.
It is cute that your question asks "still" hence implying somebody once actually did believe in them. Since PW is involved I never believed in them.
