Happy with my forged wheels

Got my car today!

Like others who were deliberating over the myriad of options, I wished that my dealer had real pictures to look at rather than the web renderings

One thing that I went back and forth over were the wheels.

I chose the 19inch forged rims with Aluminio calipers.

Hope it helps others who are trying to decide get a better idea of the look.

The dealers should have the actual wheels to look at. In addition, they should have LARGE paint samples and interior samples. Those wheels are sick. I wish they came in 20".
I ordered those wheels too.

 

If you are going to complain about the dealer's lack of actual pictures, at least post a decent picture of your car .

 

I like them. That huge CCB disc looks amazing behind the cut outs. Thanks for posting!

 

Malibu Guy, congratulations, use it in good health. Those wheels look great. My friend got a Red one with the 20's and those look good, but your wheels look great.

 

Besides looking good, are there practical advantages? Lighter than standard wheels?

 

First of all- sorry about the poor quality and quantity of pics!
Had the car just a little over a few days! Too excited and driving a lot!

The forged wheels are the lightest choice and strongest as well.
Although I am no materials expert , my understanding is that the wheel is formed by
pounding and cutting a solid piece of alloy which changes and strengthens
the metal.

The biggest surprise to me is the reaction to the car. People love the California!
Everywhere I go people stop and say Wow that's a
nice car. Women especially- young and not so young.
I didn't buy the car as a chick magnet but the Cali works
like catnip.

 

Mine hit the test track last week, same color, same wheels but yellow calipers. Your pix confirm I made the right choice, those wheels look great. I'm having it flown over, just can't wait the extra boat days, so hopefully in a couple weeks you will see it too, before a bunch of snow hits northwest Ohio. I ordered it at the beginning of August and it is finally almost here!

congrats! Hopefully you will be driving before the weather changes !
It takes a little time to figure everything out- my only other Ferrari is a 360 and the display is analog only with very simple and few controls.

The California has all sorts of screens and new controls. In the beginning a little distacting and if you are like me a little anxious/frustrated when I don't have everything mastered.

But since I am still beneath the 600 mile break-in I still have some practice time.
After 600 miles one can really push!

 

Does the manual tell you to keep it under 5K for the first 500 miles?

My plan is to drive it as long as there is no slushy snow on the ground ... dry salt does not matter, damp salt is a Bozo No No. This is my first Ferrari. I have had three Porsche 928's, the first I drove all year, over 200,000 miles with no trouble. The last two I kept nice, putting them away when there was snow & slush on the ground. I plan the same with the Cali.

I am jealous that you have yours ... but mine might be here in a couple weeks.

 

The manual does advise a break-in period for the first 650 miles. Keep the revs less than 4800 and warm the engine before taking off. 150 degree for the OIL temp.

You are going to love the car. You shouldn't be jealous. But your friends and neighbors might be!

Congratulations on getting it! It looks fantastic.

Love the rims. Car looks great! Wonder how they would look on a 430? If they would fit?

 

Joba- Looks like it. Check offsets on the stock f430 wheels. Here are the specs on these wheels. There is a set for sale in FerrariAds. Not too expensive. Numbers taken off the inside of the wheels in that set.

Thanks Terry. Would like to see a pic with them on a 430. I think they would really modernize the look.

 

Joba- The fronts are 0.5" wider than the stock 430 wheels at 7.5".

The wheels, car, and you and your friends look great.... but that car seriously needs to be lowered to take full advantage of those fine looking wheels.

 

Joe- How do you keep from scraping your front spoiler? No way your car would make it up my driveway.

The car is not quite as low as the profile pic seems to indicate as the grass is fairly long. My home drive is also on an incline and I haven't had a problem - just approach from a 45 degree angle. But I have scaped (most all at less than 5 mph) entering certain driveways of businesses that are a a very sharp incline - never a big deal - and usually even non lowered F430's scrape in similar situations.

 

Just noticed that the forged wheels are shod with Bridgestone RE Run-Flat tires.
Pretty good ride for run flats.
