So it was a beautiful day here on Long Island. I decided to bring the car over to my brother's house. I have had the car for 6 months now and he had not seen it. Wife and kids were busy so I scooted on over. I am 40 and my brother is 49. I let him drive. We buzzed around town for over an hour, visiting his buddies, etc. All the time he had a smile on his face like a little kid...
That is why I bought the car.

When I buy one it'll be partly for that reason too. Every time a person lets me sit in their car or just talk to them about it, I have a blast. I HAVE to return the favor.

    good job.

I must admit part of why I bought my F was to impress. Ferrari does that like no other. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all into its racing history & exquisite design . Simply is the ultimate. If you have one, share it.

I have long maintained that one of the joys of Ferrari's is how people react to them, down here the cars are not common and I have been rather lucky to spend time in various models over the years and a few moments stick in my mind.

One was fund raising event in a small town for the local clinic and about 20 of us headed the 100kms or so to the town, a variety of cars including a one 360 that I found myself in the passenger seat of. The plan had been for us to show the cars and raise some money, that we did and it was always special to see people that people instantly recognized a Ferrari, their faces lighting up.

As were about to leave and head for dinner the police came over to say they would be closing the entire main street for us as a crowd has gather and they wanted to see the cars run. Being in a side road we had no idea how large the said crowd was...driving into the 1.5 km main road was phenomenal, every single person must have come out the roads were lined up with people, the shouting and screaming and cheering as we blasted down the road, the scream of the 360, it was a humbling experience for me as I could see how much seeing and hearing the Ferrari meant to everyone.

Thanks for sharing. I can totally relate. I'm 40 as well and my brother is also 49 (what a coincedence!)
When I first let him drive my 308 it was special too. Moreso because he always took me for a ride in his rally cars way back when I was only about 12 years old. And about 15 years ago he managed to arrange a drive in a 348 for me, but didn't get a chance to drive it himself. It was only natural to let him drive the 308!

Yeah, i wanted to chime in on this one. I took the Testarossa out for a short drive this weekend. When I was coming home got stuck in a little traffic. Noticed two younger guys in a brand new Mustang GT behind hanging out the window with their phones taking pictures. I does make you feel good!!!

I remember the first time my brother drove my 328, alone...He left the driveway with a grin and came back with a SMILE that was hurting his face. He then asked, "Can I take Patty for a spin." Sure bro, go easy...

Its been a month and he still hasn't returned....LOL

    No really, he loved it...

Last time I was driving in town (which is the only time I don't totally love my car) I was stopped at lights beside a bus stop and a lady sitting there called out to me "smile", which I did, but then lapsed back into whatever and she called out again "Hey, you should be smiling all the time driving a gorgeous car like that!" and this time I really did keep smiling, because she's right!

I did the exact same thing this summer with my Bro, I am 42 he is 49 and he did the exact same thing went all over town showing the car off.

Funny thing he is the reason whay I became a car nut, when he and I were way younger I remember he always had a sport car. One day he bought a brand new Camaro Rally Sport home, 5 speed V8 two tone black and grey with red stripe she was beautiful. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw it, I use to wash it for him every time in return he picked me up from elementary school I was so proud :).

    When I bought the 328, I let a friend -- from a car group -- drive it.

He couldn't shift it into second.

Took a ride out to the eastern end of Long Island early yesterday morning, and on the way back I came up on a family riding in a 4 door 57 chevy. It had been restored nicely and they were out for a drive too. I could see the driver and his wife checking in the mirrors to see the 308 behind them. The kids were in two child seats in the back and appeared too young to care about cars. As I came up on the left they were craning their necks to get a look at the car. I tooted the horn and hoisted my arm out the window to give THEM a thumbs up. The smiles on their faces made my day.

Yesterday was the perfect fall day for a drive on LI. I took the top down and headed south to the roads out by the beaches. No traffic and wide open lanes. The mix of fall foliage lit by late afternoon sun was phenomenal.

Along the way there must have been at least 5 different people that gave thumbs up, waves, or smiles as I passed.

I am truly going to relish these memories when she goes in for the winter. Although, I don't know how I will be able to hold back until spring :(

Very nice of you to let your older brother drive it, that's what brothers are for.

I am sure he is proud of his younger brother! That's brothers are for!!

I don't have an older brother, only 1 younger one, but I will do the same for him

Thanks for the stories guys. For those of us in colder climates, spring can't come fast enough.
