So can one trade in a Fcar now towards a 458 that won't be available in Canada for another year, and have the dealer "hold" the trade in value towards the new car purchase in the future? Didn't know that was possible when a gap of a year between trade-in and new car purchase was likely. Also presumes the one trading his car is 100% among the first few that would get a 458, otherwise the waiting period could be more, maybe 1.5 to 2 years. And finally, I'd wonder why anyone would trade-in a CS now, thus "capturing" a price that reflects today's highly depressed car prices. Seems it would have been a better idea to wait.
not necessarily, once the 458 looms closer, values of current and older cars will go down. While the 458 is a year away, people might buy a 360cs to hold out the wait, but they won't buy it when the 458 is here. Smart move on part of the seller.
it would seem so but after 30 years of buying Ferrari's i'm sure he's getting the one of the first few that arrive and iirc is slated for september delivery. And if they were smart would continue on making him as happy as possible. And yes at Autoforum we used to hold tax credits for 6 months but I don't know if there is a cap on the time allowed. If F.O.O is offering him say for numbers sake $150,000 trade in value for his CS towards his 458 and he has me with three people all after the car and one willing to pay the $200,000 MINIMUM price for the car and he shows those emails to F.O.O they're going to pay to A: keep a very very very good long term client happy. B: secure retail value on CS's for a little while longer C: who knows... ALL of the major dealers screw and screw and screw their clients over and over and over again and they all seem to take it with a smile.... All of a sudden their super-rare car is now worth $150,000 because one in quebec was for sale for $169,900>?! but they'll advertise it for $250,000 AND GET IT by the next Bay street shooter who's had the dream forever of being able to walk into a major dealer and "cut a cheque" for a car off the showroom floor or whatever the case may be.
I was told that the car came to WFC in June 09 (was traded in by original owner to Grand Touring and wholesaled to WFC) with 7500km and was driven by the owner of WFC to current mileage just under 10,000km without changing the oil or doing anything for that matter. The last oil change was 5071km Sept. 05. Can anybody tell me if all outstanding work was brought up to date; Could there be any permanant damage/issues with this car that will have me being the next guy to post his 40k or worse bill? As far as all those posting that I should rush to a PPI; I am still trying to decide if I want the car based on its history and potential future issues. A PPI cannot give me that. If I decide to make an offer it will be conditional on an all clear PPI. Also, I will make the offer by email so they won't be able to reach my neck! Thank you to all the guys who have put their 2 cents in so far. Don't forget the Black car at LA Leasing in Montreal. All I know so far is that this "never tracked car" had pictures taken at Mosport. Probably just there to watch the most exciting racing in Canada; Formula Ford!
It looks like a win win for the Stradale seller. Zero issues dealing with potential buyers. Nice tax credit against the next purchase and then secures an early 458 delivery. The dealer gets another top quality local car to sell. Something that seems to be scarce these days. Even if you are not seeing the whole picture; FoO now links the Ontario car inventory with the Alberta inventory. I wonder if they will trade new car orders between dealerships that way to... CH
Of course........Assuming the owner of the 360 would trade in the car immediately, then wait 1 year (with no Ferrari) until the 458 arrives. As soon as the trade in is made, the dealer will re sell the car (for a profit). Therefore the existing trade-in 360 can be called a cash 'credit' towards to the new 458. I don't think a deal will be made where the trade- in 360 value is held for 1 year....until the 458 arrives. That seems unlikely.
so I take it you're the guy? May we see the other horses in the collection? Sounds promising from what has been said thus far
nope not the guy pretty damn close but not the guy, hehe. He has others to drive all equally as cool.
Hi , yes. It's been discussed. Now, can you provide me with a full history and description on this car? Km? Anyone?
Mr V it is listed on their web site> one owner local car. Under 9,000KM. Problem is a USA Stradale with comparable mileage should be available with a landed price here under 200K CDN. CH
I just did a thorough search on Ferrari's in Ontario. Funny how it never seems to go past 70 odd cars available. I understand your point of a USA CS being -200. But I still think a good CDN car will bring that or more. And it will to the right buyer. FoO paid well over 200K for said 1K CS. For a reason On that note I aint no expert or a buyer. Just a fly on the wall. I just bought an old 944s and I am as happy as a school girl as I am prepping this baby for a possible track car Hope all is well with you Mr.C.
Mr V the sold new in Canada Stradale seem to be suffering from a high price hang over from when they were all shiny and new. There isn't any Canadian warranty any more to make the pain go away either. The Canadian Stradale cars are over priced when you shop down south. Besides the Canadian Stradales don't have that nifty 'Ferrari 50 years in the USA' emblem! Beyond the fact that the Canadian Stradale models were not driven here in the winter there is no difference between them except a lot of dollars. As for taking a trade in of a Stradale at FoO it's just good business to keep a tight rein on the Canadian offerings were possible. Not to mention 'customer relations'. Richard Spenard was rather handy with a 944 race car. Maybe he can give you a few 'set-up' tips... From 1987-1990 he was the Canadian Porsche 944 Cup Champion. 1986 was a bad year for him; he only came in second in the cup standings that year. 1989 was his best year; there were 8 race events and he won 6 of them. CH
Not to derail this thread. But yes, Spenard was/is a great racer. I've watched that crazy French-Canadian in the past. After that autotrader search I was surprised to see the heavy presence of not one but two 599's at MVL Leasing. And a yellow SCUD! There is even two SA's for sale elsewhere!
The TdF Blu 599 has been there for many months. They even reduced the price 20k. As for the manual 599 it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon. There is a USA 2007? manual 599 with a just a few miles on it that's never sold either. Rosso Rubino no less for the USA 599. CH
They're cheap in the states, this was posted in the 360/430 section http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-360-04-Challenge-Stradale-Rossa-Corsa-Red-15K-serviced_W0QQitemZ110453149539QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item19b7854f63#ht_2525wt_962
You are too modest. I was actually thinking of your video racing efforts that have been saved for posterity! CH
I also noticed the 2 599's at MVL leasing, I drive by there almost every other day.....And yes they have been sitting there for a long time. There is probably an inch of floor dust underneath those cars! Its so tempting....but the price is still too high. $379 k for the Red 599, but a similar unit can be found in the US for low $300's if not -$300k. Canadian prices are way out considering the dollar has been 10% or less difference than the US for a year now. But why are prices 25% higher? Beats me. PS Vasco....Engineered Auto in Concord are the specialists for Porsche racing conversions.
Yeah I know. They have some cazy inventory all of a sudden. Good for them. They do some nice work. I once sold a 1997(?) 911 C4S back in 2001 that was tuned by them. Ever so simple mods but the car looked awesome!!!! I had all the bills from Eng Auto. It wasnt cheap. It's by far the nicest 993 C4S in town. It came back and was sold again and I havent seen it since.
I made an offer on Sat. afternoon. Not near as low as some have suggested. Still have had no response! I know what that means. Thanks to all that have posted their opinion. Thinking about a weekend in Montreal to go see the black one. Only 3,300 miles and about a dozen pages of service record all at FoQ. The car came to Canada at about 200 miles. Any suggestions on this car?
