Veloce Publishing has put out a new book, "Intermeccanica The Story of the Prancing Bull" by Andrew McCredie. Just finished reading it-found it to be very informative with a great appendix for the IM cars made in Turin. The trials and tribulations faced by the Reisners in actually pulling off the daydreams that most of us have had since we were in grammar school was reavealing about Frank and Paula's determination to make some great cars in their time. I found my serial number in the appendix and the distributor named Joe Vos. I'd like to contact Mr. Vos to see if he recalls my car and who bought it. I think he sold about 21 Italias in the early seventies. Lots of great pictures and the stories of those involved. Definitely worth a look whether you are a fan or not. Oceans
Are these Intermechanica's built buy the same kit car manufacture that does the Porsche 356 replicas? Where can I find more info on them?
Intermeccanica still exists in Vancouver and yes, they did make replicas of speedsters. I would not classify them as kit cars. Most, if not all were turnkey when delivered. In fact, most mechanics that I have talked to who have dealt with Intermeccanica Speedsters have described them as better quality and more powerful than the originals. Sadly, Frank Reisner passed away in 2001, but his son is keeping the name going. Try googling Intermeccanica.
Aside from the Sta Wag one on ebay/CL, are there any for sale in the US? I couldn't find them in Hemmings or any other searches? Thanks, etip
you are going to LOVE BaT.....one of THE best automotive websites out there...not affiliated, just a fan
If you can pry one out of someone's hands, I would have said it would price out in the reaches of what a nice Italian sports car from the period (other than Ferrari) would expect to bring. By that I mean something like a Urraco, Kamsin, Pantera. Iso's took off a while ago. But now I think Intermeccanica has been discovered by the market and all bets are off.
Not sure about that, unlike Iso's and Pantera's the suspension was never developed, so the handling is not equal to the beauty.
