i am not convinced on factory or not factory yet... there are some contradictory things on this car conversion

I'll drink to that, it's finally "beer thirty" in the "Great White North".

 

Is this a good deal to pick up for 30K after repairs and unfortunately a color change to black and non-Lambo seats?. (Very little mechanical repair history).

Good deal at $30K, the answer is simple...NO.

Brian (NSXER) has a 5000S for sale that is done for under $100K

This car will cost you a lot more than that and be in a shop for at least 6 months.

 

Isn't that the one that hit a kid, possibly on a bike?

Definitely looks like someone went over the top.

 

Someone or something standing on the ground was hit at speed, damaged the roof, and snapped the rear wing. If it was a child, this was severe...

it is a MUCH safer option!

seats are hard to find, but i know a pair for sale in Europe

I took this in an absolutely biblical thunderstorm going up to Glasgow on tour with my band a couple of years ago. Went past us on the motorway and then we both turned into the next services.

 

That advertisement has beeen around more than Paris Hilton.

From what I recall it hit a lamp post which then fell on top of it.

 

The car actually hit a cyclist. Damage was minimal. The intent is to buy the car to restore so six months to a year is not an issue.

My gut feeling is if we see a crashed Countach for a low price, buy it. Even if you have to let it sit until the time is right to fix it.
Unless the damage brings it to a parts car.

 

Wow. Where is that? What's the story after the sale. Who did the work? Is it for sale like the furniture?

 

Now, now I can not let the cat out of the bag till we have keys in hand.

 

carefull here...

there is a rumor of a wrecked-then repaired-repainted countach
this car had a damaged chassis and after repair still has so much flex the windshield breacks all the time the car runs over a hole in the road...

i am not sayng it is THAT car...just be carefull and do your homeworck before buyng it...as arrange a test drive!

OK you say cyclist I heard other.
I posted about this car just two months ago on another forum and have taken the liberty to cut and past that posting below.

The advertisement also states the car would come with a quote "Buyer to receive a good marketable title."
I wonder why it has a salvage title? As far as a bicycle hitting it I believe it was more along the lines as the stolen car ran into a street lamp.
After the Countach hit the lamp it toppled over, smashing the windshield, collapsing the steel roof along with chassis frame work and broke the wing.

I knew a collision shop owner that bought a roll over salvage countach and he made it look quite presentable over time.
However every time he hit a sizable bump in the road or God forbid pot hole the windshield cracked.
The first time insurance paid the $10K to fix it the second time they denied the claim. When you lose the integrity of the frame work it’s over.
Hence the salvage branded title."

If I am wrong about the stolen / salvage title I apologize in advance and hope that the cyclist is alive and well.

Judging by these images, I see a cracked front bumper/spoiler, dented & scraped front end, badly mangled roof, and broken rear wing. Id say the damage was both wide-ranging and fairly substantial. Not severe, but "minimal" might be a bit optimistic.

Are we all in agreement about the strength of the Countach frame? VERY strong.
A Countach with frame damage would be a very wrecked Countach in other areas of the car.
However, if that roof was dmaged enough and NOT repair properly, that would be the explaination of the multi-time crack windsheild.

 

Agreed. The continuously cracking windscreen could be the result of a poor or inexperienced installation.
