Has anyone had any problems with not being able to open a door due to a faulty locking mechanism/actuator etc. Have tried all possible ways of unlocking and opening door but wouldnt open. As we didnt want to cut through the carbon interior door trim we have decided to drill out(from behind) the two screws that hold the striker for the door so hopefully if successful the door will open so we can remove the interior door trim to fix the problem. Access to the screws has taken time as we have had to remove the rear wheel/brake/suspension etc and move the fuel tank enough to begin work on the screws.
A bit late to ask for advice but just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before or had to do something similar to what we are doing to enable the door to open.

I know this is probably a stupid suggestion but did you try to use the extra alarm unit just in case the original battery died? Best of luck.

It's an internal fault with passenger door only. Drivers door unlocks and opens fine but passenger door wont unlock either by remote or manually. Thanks for you idea though.

Your car is under warranty... why would you drill anything?

Was really hoping for some words of wisdom from another mechanic who may have encountered this rare problem of the door lock mechanism failing and had an idea of what screws were being drilled out and could have provided some useful advice......
A very tedious and time consuming job which may or may have not been the best way to do it(not exactly many options) but at least the door is finally open with no damage. Will have to replace the screws and the backing plate for the striker which I think is much better than
replacing a damaged carbon door panel.
