Guys, my hood will not unlock on my 1980 308. There are two latches under the hood as y'all know... When I pull the release in the door jamb, it opens the driver side latch but will not open the passenger side latch. Any ideas on what to do to open? ..and remedy??

By hood I take it you are referring to the front. If so then from memory I was able to unlock the latch by removing the front wheel for better access and with a thin screwdriver I was able to pry it open from inside the wheel well. That worked for me and I found that the cable had snapped at the lever.

Yep the front hood.. Were you able to do this without damaging the mechanism?

Have you tried the emergency release wire? #46 on page 26 in the owner's manual?

I was all excited about this potential solution until I discovered that my car doesn't even have the emergency release wire pictured in the manual... typical Ferrari...

Yes I was able to do it without damaging the mechanism....it was the right hand side.Look carefully as they all came out with the emergency release cable unless someone has removed yours....one is located under the dash and one from memory is either in the glovebox or just under it...I sold the car six months ago so memory is a bit vague

Look carefully as someone may have tucked it out of the way.

have a friend 'push' down on the side that does not unlatch while you pull the either the lever or cable. Then try to open.
On my 81 it is the drivers side that does not work correctly.
I have asked here how to correct the problem as I did not see any any adjustments after I got it open.
I got some replies but they did not agree so I left well enough alone.

Of course if I get a flat tire when driving solo I will be out of luck.

Sorry a big apology, for some reason I thought you were referring to a GT4...I was able to do it with the GT4 which has the latches on the sides.I believe the GTB/S only have the single centre latch...

I have a 1980 model as well and it has the emergency release just above the standard release handle. Mine was tucked away behind the plastic but I pulled it out to take the photo. I can't imagine your car not having it too? You really have to look around up in there to find it. Here's the pic. Joe
