Personally I would avoid ANYTHING that involved Kareem. What I thought to be a personal mission to undermine what Dusty has done with the VCR and the "gathering" has now been verified IMHO.

Dusty has spent countless hours and dollars negotiating a nice, clean, centrally located place for people to meet and enjoy their Sunday mornings.......yet you continue to come up with half baked "empty lots" to "hang out in". What is the root of your mission here?

srslusso it is obvious to me that you are trying to play the big hero, and your affiliation with the Fchat drama queen is alarming and will certainly keep me away from anything that you "organize".

I went to the Sunday gathering this morning at the Corbin Village Shopping Center in Woodland Hills. Great weather, great cars 25 or so when I was there. Great company.

The Coffee Bean is convenient, good coffee, clean restroom, lots of parking.

This is a good interim place until a more permanent place is located.

    Regards,

    Stew

I think your biggest mistake is assuming this is about Karim and Dusty. It's about cars and camaraderie. I will check out the other place too just to see everyone and enjoy the scenery. The address of the parking lot is not all that important. A lot of the regular guys were out this morning. Boycotting due to one person's presence cost you a good time if that's what you were doing. Either way, I can feel the hate in you post and that's just sad.....

BTW, other than gas to get there, what could cost countless dollars in this negotiation? Just curious, no drama coming from here......

Wow obviously some folks are unhappy that car guys can meet in a vacant lot and hang out for a while. Nothing in life is permanent and even the "new" place with contracts etc may not last due to some law or other. All I know is I would have missed a couple of weekends bs'ing with like minded people if this current place was not available.

I have no affiliation with anyone and have the greatest respect for people like Dusty but coming from the South bay this latest place is better for me as its closer. VCR was bearable but I didn't go as much as I would as it just "felt" far. I have been at the new place both weekends and heard no talk of individuals just cars and people glad to have the opportunity to meet somewhere.

Had a great time today, and some great cars especially the old Ferrari's and the Gullwing Mercedes.

I know this lot well. In 1966 I was pulled over on Ventura Blvd, at around midnight, in front of this lot after burning rubber in my 1964 GTO (Pontiac) leaving a small coffee shop where I used to meet with my friends. I was 18 years old and very surprised to look over and see an unmarked LAPD next to me, plainclothes leaning out the window holding a badge and gun and telling me to pull in the parking lot. It seems they had been watching the coffee shop for drug deals, saw me take off and thought I was running. They proceded to tear out the rear seat and carpet, empty the trunk and generally tear apart my GTO. Realizing I was just an innocent teenager with a lead foot they just drove away and left me there with my car torn apart in the parking lot in the dark. Bummer. This place holds bad memories.

I had a similar experience in high school with my Duster. They ticketed me so I had to go to court and fight it. I won! :)

I don't think there is one person here that can deny the past drama caused by Karim and his immaturity. I never assumed it was about anything other than cars and camaraderie, what I am saying is it seems that we all stand around and talk about the old times.....pat each other on the back and claim to support the VCR and Dusty yet I have not seen any evidence of this other than some people tripping over themselves to "claim" the group of people (us) for their own benefit.

No hate here brother, only the desire to stay away from those that cause drama. This of course is my opinion, and to the best of my knowledge I am entitled to that.

Again, you're making more out of this than it needs to be. What is this to you, "The fight for Dusty's car show?" I have news for you, Karim was just bopping around the lot like everyone else and the couple times I exchanged a few words with him, neither Dusty or an ownership claim to the Corbin Show, if you can even call it that, came up.

VCR (location) had a great run but it's over now for whatever reason. Dusty is still Dusty and Karim is still Karim - and - the cars are still the cars.

Guys were simply hanging out having a good time. Those who "Chose" not to come missed out on a nice morning, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't matter to me, when we meet next at "whatever location" we'll have a laugh I'm sure. :)

    +1

I was there around 9am and it was very nice seeing familiar faces. There were about 20 ~ 30 cars and it was a small and cozy gathering. I really enjoyed it as it reminded me of the early days at VCR.

A guy in an old Porsche 356 drove up and checked us out and asked whether this is some Ferrari gathering, then stuck around. Earlier, another couple of guys showed up in a RR drop head Phantom and it looked like they were having a good time checking out the other cars.

    Relax!

We took our cars to a parking lot on a beautiful Sunday morning and had coffee and shared car stories. I even learned a little Korean from John ;). It was a nice morning. You were not there and don't know what went on yet you continue to attempt to inject a negative spin. Nobody appeared to be "claiming" anybody or anything.

Since you weren't there and you need "evidence", I had a large coffee and a cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted with cream cheese.

I have a suggestion. Maybe everyone who goes to the Corbin Center Parking lot on Sundays can send you an email and tell you what they did, said and who they talked to. Then you can decide if you are comfortable attending in the future ;).

Seriously, just let things evolve. This is an interim spot. Come out and enjoy yourself or stay away. Whatever you choose, but there is certainly no need to add drama or negative spin.

    Warmest Regards,

    Stew
