Just got back from the Sprintbathurst event, Mt Panorama was brilliant, honestly intimidating at first, especially over Mcphillamy & Skyline, took me a day plus to get comfortable and really start to enjoy it, confidence started to kick in on saturday arvo and sunday. Track much more bumpy than I thought and verrrrry fast, 280 down conrod with Stokell driving.

I would recommend the event, I got to do 400kms around Bathurst over 3 days, simply awesome.

First day race drivers as instructors, following behind them first half day to show lines, then sessions in the afternoon with instructors if you wished, driving your car. Second day on your own in the morning & qualifying for group placement in the arvo, supersprint on the sunday.

For the sprint, Sunday morning was when track at its best, after midday the times got worse, everything started to go off, way too hot, 55 deg track temperatures.

I cooked my pads (throw away) & second set of new Hoosiers, organisers wouldn't let me run slicks on car without a roll cage, was pretty happy with my time though, reckon if it wasn't so hot & I didn't cook tyres I would have done better. I had a chat with organisers after the event & I hope they will let me run slicks next time if I go.

Paul Stokell was one of the instructors and he did a couple of quick laps with me as passenger, just awesome driver, really smooth, he did a 2.28 easily & said he reckoned the car was a 2.26 on Hoosiers & a couple seconds better again on slicks, not bad for a stock road registered Ferrari.

All in all a sensational weekend

There was a Nissan GTR that was awesome 800hp & 1000nm torque, so fast, a few Ferrari 430 & 360 GT race cars and naturally the quick Porsches.

Fantastic Peter, thanks for sharing that with us. What a great experience. Nice lines, sounded fantastic, I'm jealous. :D

I had Paul Stokell as instructer a few years back and yes he's very good and also a very nice young man.

Yes you heard right John, back wheels off the ground for split second. Pete, started in race mode, went to CT off (traction off/stability on) by the sunday.

Even the conrod & mountain straights intimidating at first given the bumps, ups & downs & the terminal velocity, but huge amounts of fun once familiar.

nice work pete, glad you had fun and didn't scratch the car. what tyres were on the car for a 28, road?

i did a 28 on slicks in my road 997 GT3, so i'm impressed by the 430 scud.

cooking the pads is disappointing, never had any issues with the porsche brakes.

i assume the nissan was on slicks?

a 13 for a road car is insane, regardless of HP.

Hoosiers for the 28, the Nissan is really a pure race car, newly built this year with slicks and all the kit, really an awesome car you had to see it, no kit car or road car.

To be honest I didn't talk with them, does make you wonder, maybe sports sedans? do they still run those, or maybe just a crazy club sprinter. In reality car probably worth 250-300k, much the same as a second hand 430 GT2/3 Ferrari that are sometimes just club run.

I suspect all relatively quick cars do it.

A bit hard to take photos and steer at the same time I would have thought!

Hats off to you for using the car as it was designed to be.

Thanks Scott, it was a great event and the Scud was brilliant except for standard pads. That said, seeing the 5 Maranello Motorsport cars there made me think about a race car just for club and events like this.

I saw it on their website, if I get one in the future probably would go for a 430GT, I like paddles and no clutch given my leg.

Fairynuff. You don't use the clutch much on a full monty sequential gearbox anyway ;)
