Does anyone have photos of the old Ferrari that wee there?? By the way I am from Australia but have visited VCR a few times. A great mix of cars and lots of guys know each other and have fun swapping stories. I was more than annoyed that the centre management decided that the "car crowd" should be eliminated from their customer base. Anyway I hope you guys settle on another location that everyone can go to. I like seeing blown big block '67 Chevs next to a 360 Ferrari next to a '32 Hudson. John
You may have been talking about my 1968 365 GT 2+2. Her Blue Sero Paint is over 20 years old but her engine and transmission were rebuilt by Bob Wallace 3 years ago. I drive her every week usually to events such as this. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also there was a Red 275 GTB, I dont think you saw that car, he was gone little before you showed up.
+1 That red 275 "metal" car is soooo beautiful. I loved seeing it. When it left the sound was amazing. Took me back to the old days. Regards, Stew
For me, VCR was killed by the takeover of crappy cars. Unless people have something really special, what is the point in having a show? If organizers insist on including everyone then don't bother calling it supercar sunday. They should just change the name to "let's include everyone to make them feel good about themselves sunday." I'm sorry but I don't consider cars that wouldn't even qualify as half decent daily drivers to be appropriate for "supercar sunday."
Okay, so from now on if you want to hang around but you don't have anything special, make sure to take the bus or hide your car someplace where people could not see it.
It's a shame that the people who got up early and drove many, many miles to enjoy cars and hang out with like minded people didn't call you ahead of time to see if they were worthy of what you wanted to see. How dare they...
Fortunately for you, there are many nice concours held in So Cal throughout the year. You can go to Pebble Beach, Palos Verdes, Rose Bowl, Rodeo Dr., etc., so you don't have to worry about seeing any sub-standard cars, except for on your drive to the event .
would like to add this one http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/1020/d2h0059.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess I don't mind more average cars but I do mind when they push out the supercars. At supercar sunday, we would see a line of junkers with peeling paint, humongous spoilers, etc in the main lot and then cars like carrera gts, 599s, and gt40s etc. had to park 3 lots down behind some taco bell or something so few people got to see them. I am not saying we should exclude everything but supercars but I am saying that I hate to see junkers keeping supercars from participating.
I see what you are trying to say. It will be a long time before this new location gets so big that we will have that kind of situations. Personally, I hope it stays small and cozy, and that no special Sundays emerge.
I don't really care what the name is but because this is ferrari chat, a good fchat name might be "f-car sunday."
That's kind of funny because when we started going to the show in 2004, it was called Euro Sunday and attracted almost 100% exotics.
Why don't you make a list of the makes you would allow in your parking lot? For all others....1 hour parking only!
Why are you such an a$$? No one has ever turned away any car in 5 years until they turned us all away. Why don't you make a list? Btw, it's not my parking lot and I've never had anything to do with the gathering other than attending.
Whoa....I did not mean to offend. Please forgive me. I hoped the winking smiley face would indicate my sarcasm. I was referring to what appeared to be an elitist trend in the thread. Not directed specifically at anyone. Now I remember why I rarely post, I'm usually misunderstood.
Then please let me be the first to apologize. I've never cared what cars attend any drive I've ever put together. We've had Miata's, Fords, Chevys, etc. It's all about the people and not the rides. I'm a fan of all cars and think it would be boring to attend a show that had all of one marquee. So once again, I'm sorry for misinterpreting you post.
I just thought of a name. How about Motor Sunday. Anything with a motor welcome, as long as the driver is a decent person. Please make some suggestions for a good name. Even if this location turns out to be a temporary location, I think it would be more fun to have a formal name. Some other names that came to mind: Valley car meet and Cars & Tea
Or "A parking lot full of Ferraris sure beats the skateboarders who used to rule this big empty lot car show"
