    But David, you still have the spacers behind the front wheels of your car (as evident from recent pics - please correct me if I am wrong), offsetting them more, so this info really would only apply to a car with spacers, correct?

    It is indeed the same Countach... no idea where it is now... funky wing stanchions... not exactly the rhomboid "Wolf" style, are they...

    I have heard of the moody wing, the factory wing, and the Wolf wing. But that is just a suspect wing.

    Who tests these things by the way?

    That isn't a factory wing as the supports are angles the wrong way on the back side. But sometimes people just add random wings, like the fiberglass aftermarket ones made for Panteras, etc., just like the ricer kids these days.

    either the mounts and the wing itself look wrong to me

    Normally, he is quite a useful journalist. Why he decided to make himself come off as such a cry-baby in this episode, is beyond me.

    Here's another one of my dumb questions:

    Exactly what distinguishes a lowbody car. Is it how the body sits over the suspension??? Were they only S1 cars???

    I never pinpointed the answer while rummaging through this thread...

    I'm a big fan of James actually, currently watching his latest series James May's Toy Stories... this weeks episode involved building a 3 mile long Scalextric race track at the real Brooklands circuit.

    I just think that motoring journalists sign an agreement to make certain statements about certain cars, no matter the reality of the car or their personal opinions...

    A "lowbody" car gets the name because the body sits "low" on the wheels as well as the roof and overall car being lower to the ground.

    The cars are all series 1 & 2 LP400S.

    There were roughly 150 of these cars made.

    The body is LP400 in size with the "S" treatment added.

    Ah, so it's actually on a lowered suspension. That must be why I like them so much.

    A Countach with minimal wheel gap (on Bravos) is just a thing of beauty.

    Joe, yes, you are correct that my car has wheel spacers. I am not able to say if rubbing would not have occured when running 225s (instead of 205s) without the spacers. Good point.

    David: I can almost guarantee that running the spacers caused the rubbing when you had 225s on. You note that your car was built to run on 205s, but I have run 225s on one of my S1 cars without rubbing. With lowbodys we are talking of small tolerances, and anything off-spec could have some consequence. The combination of the spacers and the wider-spec 225s was just too much for clearance.

    Someone I know had 215s on the front of his LP400 (the standard spec is 205s in front, 215s in rear), and it caused rubbing. He went back to 205s. No more rubbing.

    On a previous page I used the expression "motor-boating" under acceleration. Here is what I meant. This is a 5-litre car. You dont see this happening with Annivesarios.

    A stock lowbody with inset front wheels is part of the aggressive look.

    Spacers make it look like a 5000 body car.

    This is 1121068 when I first bought it.

    WOW very nice... +1 the inset front wheels are really looking great in my opinion, i would remove the spacers asap!!

    Joe or Gary, are there any more pictures from the restauration of 1121038?
