Just curious to get a handle on how many of you will likely be switching in the next 12 months ? Is that yes definitely ? Not sure yet ? Wait for the 458 Spider in 2011? No Way, Happy with my Scud/430 ? ___________________________________________ Maybe somebody can make this into a poll
Have a 360 spider. California on order. I am hounding my dealer for a 458 order. They don't even have an allocation for the California, so I am not holding my breath. My hat is in the rimg though. Ray
I'm seriously thinking about it, but want to see the car in person first. I love my F430... the 458 is going to need to be one hell of a car to make me give the dealer my car a pile of money.
Yes definately but a spider. I figure it will take 3 years from today. Until then I'll drive the F430 and love every minute.
I am not sure yet. I like the looks of the car but I want a 6 speed. I am going to West Palm this weekend for the ferrari event. I am told by my dealer that the specs have not yet been released bt Ferrari so no one knows much including the cost. he did say that it was mentioned no manual would be available. The dealer said that may change it is not really set yet. I told him I would buy the 458 if a manual was available. I have bought 2 other cars from him, a 360 and my current F430. The only question he asked was Is a 6 speed okay or do you want a 7 speed, also would I be tracking the car. I will have a better feel after the weekend. It maybe hopeless. A mid next year ddelivery is what he is expecting now. Lee
Already sold the 16M waiting on a real allocation. Don't think I'll pay (lose) the 25K for special paint this time Who's willing to bet that the new pearl yellow Giallo Modena is a substantial extra cost?
I got off the list. Two reasons: no manual and I don't see the value of coming up with 175K plus my 430 for a 458. My '05 has been a really good car and has more performance than I'll ever be able to exploit anyway. Dave
+1! I'm totally with you on this. There are too many things I like more in the 430, exterior and interior wise, than I do with the 458. Although that may change when Ferrari launches it's model refresh in 5 years or so of the 458. I seem to always like the refreshes Ferrari does on their models, such as 308 to 328, Testarossa to 512TR, 348 to 355, and 360 to 430. Now if I can just get used to the idea of not being able to row through the gears myself.
+2 Although I have never been on "the list". My 430 is too good of a car to give it away just to own the latest/greatest. Plus my 05 has 9K miles in 4 years, so I definetly don't drive it enough to justify buyng another car.
Keeping F430 Spider. May go for 12 cylinder someday. I know there are many detail differences, but in the big picture the 458 is too similar to 430. Mike
What I dont understand is....why even go on the "list"? If you have to wait 2-3 years to get your car, after 6-8 months after release you'll be able to pick one up at a dealer (not necessarily Ferrari Factory Dealer), with 200miles on it anyways.
Because if I'm spending that much money on a car, I want it the way I want -- the colors I want, the accessories I want, and with no excuses. No 458's will be in the states in a year anyway.
i'm on my own 'mental' list while i'm daydreaming, a la gradeschooler, the car is also the drop top, but with the 'scuderia' treatment = 458 '16M'
I don't think they will have any problems moving 3500 cars per year world wide. The spider will certainly help, especially if it's a hard top convertible as rumored.
