Is this true or just more propaganda ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8368107.stm
It's undeniably true and Eddie Cheever is driving for USF1, Nigel Mansell is going to Lotus, the world will end in 2012. All documented by unknown sources.
But he wouldn't climb out to join Lotus? That certainly settles all debates over the team name's legacy.
I really think someone should remind the legend that MS is, that he doesn't want to damage that reputation or his health. (one hit on his neck and it's next case.) plus sustained G forces. Fact is, he is 40 and not in perfect health, ok his age not a problem with me but who's going to be the winner here, Merc..?. if he wins it's because it's MS, if he doesn't it's the car. I say it again IMO Haug has lost the plot.
No way this story can be true... ...they let MS's No2 driver Rubens B get away... ) In all seriousness I think the most probable bombshell would be Ross buying Vettel out of his Red Bull contract. I'm sure the right amount of MB's new money would do the trick... A Vettel/Rosberg would be a good pairing of youth with proven talent. Both of these drivers are both on the blooming stage of their careers and would be a good long term investment in terms of prime career years. My gut tells me that the surprise German bombshell would probably be Vettel. MS is in his twilight years whereas Vettel is just blooming into his prime. I think MS/Vettel would be MB's dream team (not to mention most people's dream team). However, I believe MS's age, injury, and Ferrari commitments prevent him from being a realistic option. Frank
Autoblog has the story as well.... http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/20/breaking-schumacher-likely-to-return-to-f1-racing-with-mercedes That would certainly be a splash, but isn't Michael contracted with Ferrari? And he is, of course, racing karts in Las Vegas this weekend... Hmmmm... Nothing like a little publicity for old friends...
If it ever proves to be true, that would be a huge gamble on both sides. MS could risk his reputation by ending his career outclassed by younger rivals, and M-B could go in a blind alley by recruiting a driver that has not raced competitively for 3 years and with health issues. Why?
As farfetched as this may all sound ... stranger things HAVE happened! The 2009 season was chock full of surprises at every level and around every corner! Is it likely MS will be driving for Merc? Probably not but the possibilities are certainly intriguing and EJ does make some (and I say some) valid points. At the end of the day none of us know what really goes on behind closed doors in the wild world of F1.
Definitely no. Contract or no contract with Ferrari, i doubt MS wants to risk or race against younger blood, younger team mate, who has nothing to lose compared to him.
I think Michael still has the hunger. And it will never completely go away. He was talked into getting out too early and it haunts him. I say go for it.
Apparently Willi Weber confirm there have been talks between Schumacher and Dieter Zetsche and Norbert Haug at the GP in Abu Dhabi.
If Schumacher ends up in a F1 Mercedes (which I don't believe until I see it) then the world will know why he stepped back from the comeback with Ferrari this year: The F60 and not his health. I'm sure PSK is just waiting to see this story develop.
