mode? Seems like it would be more fun overall. Like the firmer suspension. Owners manual say something like "for track only".

No reason I can think of though race isnt ideal in the rain or when the road is slippery as it backs off the TC quite a lot...

It would be good to get an informed opinion on this... but I've heard it's harder on the clutch as there's more slippage

I think we all know traction control is dialed back, so keeping the front facing forward is more your job than in Sport mode where the car's electronics plays a larger role.

hmmmm...ive heard just the opposite!! (unless i mis understood...and you feel sport is harder on clutch?)

easier on clutch as it engages much quicker...not as much slippage, in Race

none the less...Race mode on a CS ALWAYS!!! shifts are much quicker. If you want to take it easy, drive a Toyota!!

My CS is always in race...100% of the time

I would think it would be EASIER on the clutch as there would be LESS slippage. My CS is always in RACE mode

YES, there is less "slipeage" of the clutch in race mode or sport on the 360. I always drive in sport mode, period.

My Scuderia is always in Race unless I'm not familiar with the road then I put it in Sport. Sometimes I put in CT when I want to throw the rear end out a little. Never had it in CST even on the track.

I put in wet mode for my F430 stick, when my little daughter sits next to me, so she can enjoy it more, and the exhaust valves will not open so often, other case I am always in race mode.

My 16M is always in race mode. My old 07' F430 had 15,000 miles on the original clutch (with no signs of wear), and way always driven in race mode.

I use mine in sport most of the time but I don't see any reason not to use race if you want and don't mind the minor stiffening in ride. Just be aware that the rear can come WAY out in race mode so be gentle with the throttle coming out of sharp turns. I have a manual, so I can't comment on shift times or clutch wear. I get to control shift speed myself.

16M and 430 always in race mode, except if letting a newby drive, then back to sport.

Thanks for this - drove around all day in Race mode and felt that the shifting was actually smoother than in Sport

The lowest wear on the mechanical components (differential, brakes and clutch) is CST-OFF. As you increase the assistance (CT-Off, Race, Sport, Low Grip) it also increases the wear on these items.

In the Scuderia in CST-OFF the e-diff works in a fixed position, the e-diff doesn't change its behavior. In CT-OFF, the e-diff works with variable ratios, I can get out of a turn sideways and hit full gas and the car will move forward on a drift and fix itself, while CST-off will cause a spin under the same conditions. You can feel the differential changing its locking ratio when in CT-OFF. Race mode is so intrusive, that you cannot enjoy the benefits of the e-diff, as the stability controls cut off the power and work the ABS before you even get on a drift.

Race mode is very intrusive at the track, and extremely intrusive at autoX. Sport mode is fine for street use and Low Grip is too slow on the F1 transmission (too much clutch slippage).

For street use, I run the car in Race mode or CST-OFF, Track CT-OFF or CST-OFF, AutoX CST-OFF, Rain Low Grip mode.

The car produces the bets lap times at autoX and track in CST-OFF.
