Yes I agree, the 'narrow' front track when contrasted with the rear track is what gives the LP400S its special look. I have the greatest respect for chassis genius Gian Paolo Dallara who was responsible for this car's 'focused' setup and I think it was all carefully thought out.

    Here is 1121036, unmodified.

Actually, the spacers that we see on some cars (usually German cars, or cars that came from there, for some reason) make the front track even WIDER than that of a 5 litre car, of that I have little doubt, and that's even without measuring. Its no optical illusion, you can see it with the naked eye. I prefer to leave these cars alone, but everyone is different.

Having said all that, I'm sure it handles well.

You could be correct, because this car indeed had some LP500S 'upgrades' on the interior done before Tony had it and during his ownership, but I will leave Tony to comment on that because I'm not sure exactly what components were replaced.

i am not sure but i think Lel means the front of list arround the driverdoorwindow, it looks like a part of the dash.

Joe, do you have any pictures of the digital dash whats in one Walter Wolfcar? You posted it earlier but i can't find it back, are there more countachs with these digital "night rider" instruments?

I am not too sure what the problem is with the cars lifting at the front when accelerating? Inside you do notice it, but surely it is slightly more natural? Do most of you guys drive that hard all the time to notice! Perhaps it isn't weight just that the DD cars are soooooo fast that this would happen in an anniversary if they were as good! ( waiting for incoming flak, tin helmet on)

Just to be serious for a minute (!), I can objectively say the suspension of the standard Annivesario is better than that of the QV for 3 solid reasons.

    1. I have a basis for comparison having owned both, and driven thousands of miles in them.

    2. I don't own either any longer, so my view is completely balanced & dispassionate.

    3. The factory was at pains in the period to educate us to the fact that although the improvements to the Annivesario's suspension were minor, they were crucial. Dont forget this car was set up by World Rally Driving Champion Sandro Munari, who did a goodly degree of the testing & development to make it a handling car.

I owned my Annivesario after my QV and I recall feeling that it was much improved in handling, but also, I felt much more secure at high speed.

Exactly what the changes are can best be established by getting 2 cars together side-by-side, so how about it guys?

Here is an Annivesario accelerating off the line. It has lift too, but not as severe as that exhibited by the 5-litre (non-adjustable suspension) cars. Incidentally, all the lift/dive/roll characteristics exhibited by the 5-litre cars may be down to the cheapo shocks the factory put on them, as Raymond has already pointed out...

No, it's just the way the picture looks.

That is the edge of the drivers door triangle making you think it's the dash.

The dash is leather covered but other than that it is stock.

Here is 1121036 when I owned it.

A car I never wanted to sell but because I did, it saved my business through the recession.

I hope to buy it back one day...

The car had been updated to 5000S interior but it was a stock set up.
