we should stop the chitchat and come to facts, belonging to them the qv and 25th have an equal height. The rear suspension has the following differences (QV from chassis 910 vs 25th 89): #3 Hub, #22 pipes to hub, #44,48 ball joints of torsion bar, #54 shock absorber, aditionally the 25th has spacers at the struts. http://www.countach.ch/QV_spare/From%20chassis%20910/tav04.jpg Front suspension (LP5000s vs 25th 89, QV and LP5000s are same) #15 roll bar, #31 speed gear, #45,62 ball joints of roll bar OK, now to the influence of this, obviously they installed stiffer shock absorbers the rear, therefore less boat tailing, also a stiffer roll bar at the front, gives a more lively rear end. I installed the Koni struts of the 2 wd Diablo all around, my car doesn't boat tail at all, and I haven't seen any 25th cornering faster than me. http://www.countach.ch/diablostruts.htm You can believe me that I drove both, several QV's and 25th's, there is not much difference for the normal driver, IME the rear struts of the QV were too soft, that was corrected, the rest is only minor adjustment to this. When you change the toe in/chamber of the QV to the 25th settings (needed because of the PZero instead of the P7) you will hardly remark any difference anymore. Raymond what are the differences in the suspension settings between the QV and the Anniversary? I recently had mine reset and checked after my small off road, as my insurance company were paying for the checks! I am going to get a set of Koni dampers made for the rear of the QV this winter to match the front set I had made. Should i run the tyre pressures any differently on the P Zeros? I think i run 2.4 and 2.6 bar. I will post pics of the front of mine later today but don't think there is such a big gap at front. Mine is a very early QV Paul xx
The 25th looks lower because the fender flares are flater and mounted lower, also the running boards give a more down to road look. 25th: Front Toe-in + 1mm Camber -0°15' Caster angle > +6°30' 2,6bar Rear: Toe in +3mm Camber -0°30' 2,8bar curb weight 1680Kg Overall height: 1070mm QV: Front Toe-in +2mm Camber -15' Castor > 6°30' 2,6bar Rear toe-in 3mm camber -45' 2,8bar empty (?curb?) weight: 1490Kg overall height: 1070mm Unfortunately there is no data about the spring and shock specs of the 25th, the QV has everything in the owners manual.
thanks raymond Not a terrible amount of difference; 2mm toe in front and .15 degrees at rear. Will check what mine was set to as had Carlo Mcrindle of topgearcars send it to the specialist for me. was hoping to take her for a run today but is pouring with rain here just now! I had my shocks regenerated twice in 12 years. The second time I had the dampening effect increased, only for the rears, by 10%. The picture shows acceleration between 2nd and 3rd gear; this was taken before the 2nd rebuild and the new engine silent blocks. You can notice that the front shocks are pretty much un the "up" position and the rears are compressed somewhat. Ten percent on each shock is a very good compromise. Another factor to take into consideration are the engine silent blocks. The Countach engine, irrespectively of the miles driven, tends to lower itself in the engine by 2 or 3 cm when the silent blocks begin to fail - remember we are talking about are 20+ year old cars). In hard acceleration they will case the boating effect to increase. The Red QV is owned by a friend of mine in Japan, it is a very cool picture and thought I would share. I don't see how a lower engine position (less than an inch) would affect suspension travel. Shock dampening, spring rate, condition of suspension joints perhaps.
There is a local shop here in Italy that rebuilds either to factory specs or whatever you ask for, very reasonable. I also had all my door and trunk shocks re-generated at the same shop, think I paid about $15 each. They are very careful and do not repaint them if asked so all the original manufacturers details which are printed on remain. Regarding 2NA's question, I just figured that if the silent blocks are failing and the engine can move up and down during hard acceleration - even only one inch - it would affect the rear suspension's performance also. The motor is THE heavy part of the car. I had the shocks re-done and engine silent blocks replaced at the same time, the car "feels" better cannot be certain what offered the most benefit though. the originals were built by ariston in Italy who used to build fridges! I had a set of Konis built to Koni spec by Sports line suspension in the UK. I decided not to rebuild the originals as I didn't think they were worth it. New ones have a lot more control Paul

Paul: Your car looks fantastic. But, I have to point out a fly in the ointment (tut-tut). Actually, 2 files. 1. You are missing the OZ sticker on the front wheel. I dont know how you could drive the car like that. 2. Your paint shop neglected to paint the blackout strip that runs along the rivet-line at the bottom of the sills. I would call them up Monday morning and ask for a small rebate. Thanks.

This debate would be easily solved by finding owners with a stock QV and a stock Anniversary and measuring vertically through the front hub centerline from the ground to the top of the fender. How the spats are mounted would be irrelevant. The key will be finding these cars with fresh, but factory spec, springs...
Only about the size of the flare... they cannot sit lower, as I already proved with the parts manual the suspensions are 90% the same, also the overall height is the same, so how can the 25th sit lower?
Lol Joe thanks for that. 1. I didnt put the OZ stickers back on as I found they materially altered the unsprung weight and the car handled better without them. ( discuss!!!) ( does anyone have any?) 2. I dont actually like that black line on the rivets and prefer the car this way. ( do i get thrown off the forum for saying that?)
