I had a black 308 and put the shields on it and it looked great, but on any other color I don't really like the way it looks.
No shields, period. If it's a factory option for a model year maybe, if not, not even an option. I also have a Dino and the temptation to put "Ferrari" badges all over it was great but I resisted and the car looks better for it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah me too. One of my fellow biology majors in college had the "Bandit Special". He kept it immaculately groomed & refrained from having sex in it as to avoid messing up the seats.
Hit the wrong button. The shields came with my car but were not installed. I debated for 2 years before installing them. I like them.
Bob, Interesting wheels for a 308. Never saw wires on a 308 before. Were they on the car when you got it, or did you add them?
I think many of us have to put them on at some point when we are new owners, then as time passes they come off. Thats my scenario, anyway. Now I have one on my rollaway toolchest and the other on my BBQ Sometimes I put the magnetic ones on when I track the 308, then they seem appropriate, SF !
Aren't the sheilds supposed to be hand painted on the car, and only on the racing models? How about this alternative for a street car... Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Scuderia shields on my 308, but i do have them on my RV, my Fiat X1/9 race car, and my riding lawn mower, so I really can't criticize anyone elses taste on this matter.
I removed mine last year. I just thought it was getting "ridiculous" having the logo all over the car -side mirrors, valve stem caps, front hood and grill, in the rear. But...to each his own. Ron
PO put thick vinyl shields on my car. My kids got PO'd when I tried to remove them. Oh well. They stay for now
When the PO (Bob) purchased the car in 1985 the wheels were in place, supposedly original to the car. His story was there 2 cars shipped in 1978 with the wire wheels and this was one of them. I checked with FNA a couple of years ago and the factory denied putting Borrani wheels on any 308. A friend saw a 78 with wire wheels on E bay last year that belonged to some rock star. Maybe they were a dealer installed option? Bob was a high school friend and we played with this car starting in 1985 and I bought it from him the week before he died in 2004. I know they are not the accepted wheels, but after 25 years the car wouldn't look right to me without them. Randy
I like the Shields and I think that it is another distinctive attribute of Ferrari cars. I do not show them because I want to ''over advertise'' my car as a Ferrari, I just perpetrate Ferrari own's tradition. Moreover, I happen to like them. OTOH I would not put Ferrari stickers nor SF valves stems caps. THAT is IMVHO too much. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't care for shields on 308/328 cars. They just don't seem to work with the lines of the body. On the other hand I really like them on 360/430 cars. That said, it's your car do what makes you happy!
Here is http://www.extremeoutback.com/index.cgi?cart_id=5455137.424&pid=65a a nice, functional alternative to logo caps... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
People do what they like I guess... I didn't think that my GT4 deserved them as a road car but now that it's a Ferrari Classic racer I added some. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I put porcelain ones on my 308 and i like it. I think it blends in with the badge on the mirror, but thats just me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My car is Marrone Met. The shields look absolutely stunning against that brown metalic. My shields, both 3D Vinyl and the metal/ceramic are magnetic. I put them on when I like and take them off when I like. Best of all worlds.
I personally won't put them on my car, but if someone wants them it's there car and they can do what they want. Folks who worry someone may mistake their car for something other than a Ferrari as the reason for shields, I trully hope you are kidding.
Thank you sir! Zachary Mayne shot that pic when he did the Forza article on my car. I suggested Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas for the background pics. Here are some more. Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hope nobody takes offense, but IMHO, Scuderia shields belong on Ferraris that participate in track events, are dedicated track machines or were factory dual purpose (IE F40, Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, etc). After all, as someone previously pointed out, there is the Ferrari automobile emblem, which is on all Ferraris and then there is the shield of the Scuderia---which is the racing arm of Ferrari. Aren't the 6 Ferrari emblems on a road car and the big fat Ferrari script on the trunk lid enough? If people are concerned that the message "this is a Ferrari" is not clear enough, two more "prancing horses" are probably not going to help! For me, the Scuderia shield should be a merit badge--A badge of honor to be worn by those cars whose owners have been brave enough to risk their cars--and their lives--on the track...As Enzo undisputedly intended (one of the few things, that is undisputed when it comes to him ) . ***Just a small footnote--I have a Mondial cab--which, by my own definition, will never be able to earn a Scuderia badge. Furthermore, I don't think I would have the B&lls to risk her on the track anyway. I admire and applaud those who do. Just my. 02
