A little side tracking perhaps but what is the tell tale difference between a Dino 246S and a TR59? Apart from the number of inlet trumpets of course. Could it perhaps be the dashboard, which is over the complete width of the cockpit in the TR?

It is 0049 S (four digits), see photo of chassis number. The XI Giro di Sicilia was held on the 1st April 1951.

Thanks for clarifying! Is the car still in a light color?

It is exactly the same car as 049S but with a dark color (repainted?). Photos inside Marcel's book "Making a Difference".

No takers? The above link has now expired, but it showed a BBR model of the #34 car painted dark red with the second color as silver. This year I was fortunate to win a kit of the sane car by a company called Modelli Verona. The instructions say to paint the #
34 car "rosso and giallo", red and yellow. This is somewhat supported by an auction for a built old John Day kit of the car also painted red and yellow. Does a color photo of the actual car exist? If not, is there any concensus on the true colors? Thanks.

Hi, I think you may be correct. The info I have for the Targa Florio/ Giro di Sicilia on 4/2/1950 shows Inico Bernabei and Tullio Picini driving a 166MM to 2nd place. I believe the race number was 413. This car is listed as a 166 Inter but looking at the other Ferraris competing and the drivers I believe that 049S is the correct car and the 'archivio "Tritone"' photo is of 049S. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Very interesting indeed: Scotti and ? with 0094 at the 1951 Giro di Sicilia, probably the first appearance of that Motto bodied 212E.

It was on the 28th September 1959, to be more precise and the seller was Cesare Perdisa, son of Luigi Perdisa, resident at Via Marconi 16 in Bologna. Perdisa was a race driver and had been the third owner of 0331 EU.

I don't suppose you could tell me where I left my screwdriver when I was fourteen?

Just kidding, of course, but your database is truly phenomenal. I truly hope I need it to learn details of a Ferrari of my own some day.

Ad Ed, it's all your fault ;)
