The used STi cars in Auckland seemed to be $3000-$4000 more expensive than the other models in Auckland a year ago when we were looking. The STi's get stolen more too.

I was told that if a WRX engine blows up, it can cost up to $6000 for replacement engine and labour.

    I quite like your 355.

Not really daily driver material though is it?

I recon your scooter could beat a wrx across the city.

'99 WRX was one the best cars I've ever owned. Only sold it cuz a lebbo gang decided it wanted it and tried to steal it several times over a 3-4 week period :(

Not in Oz/UK/Europe. Here the regular WRX's only had 220bhp and the STI had 280bhp.

The 280bhp motors for the regular WRX's are for Jap spec only. :(

NFI what was sold in NZ I guess you could of got the Jap Spec. Just have to keep a look out if you are looking at Oz spec cars I guess

In the dark days pre-immobilisers they were stolen regularly and simply uninsurable with such mainstreamers as NRMA.

Just for comparison I used NRMA online quote and using a 2007 Honda Civic VT IR (arguably sporty hoon buyer equivalent to WRX) worth $32K it spat out $866 pa comprehensive.

Keeping all details same and putting in WRX the same year & value was only $150 pa more so not a major issue now compared to days of yore.

That is a shame to have to sell under those circumstances. Was it reliable for you?

We get the JDM cars here, most of the cars here are imports from Japan and there are the few NZ new cars that are also JDM spec.

I wonder what they changed on the Aussie cars to reduce the power?
