Detail question 308 GT4 Euro bumpers

Can anyone clarify for me?
I have seen pics of later GT4's with black bumpers (not the rubber part) instead of chrome.
I know that some people have replaced their original units with aftermarket fiberglass parts.

But, did Ferrari on any of the GT4's paint the metal bumper section black instead of chrome?

I'm sure you've seen this website but here is one with black euro bumpers. I couldn't tell you if it is stock or not though.

I think you're talking about the difference between US and Euro bumpers which are very different.

 

I own a US model GT4.

Again, my question is, if I am looking at a Euro GT4 and the rear bumper sections are black and not chrome, are these aftermarket fiberglass parts? Or did Ferrari ever paint them black?

I sent HANS a PM on this thread, since that is his car that is referenced. I was under the impression that they all came from the factory chromed with rubber bumper inserts, but as I've learned, there is nothing 100% in Ferraridom.

Now, there were some shops that painted all of the window trim black. Could've extended to the bumpers too, though not sure since most of the ones I've seen were US cars. There are several GT4's out there with black window trim. It will be interesting to see what Hans says since his is in the Netherlands.

Mine was like yours Jim but I have seen the black bar and window trim before......Unfortunately I have also seen red bars and window trim topped off with red side mirrors and to finish red wiper arms......it wasnt pretty

 

I've got the non-chromed ones.

This has been discussed in the past sometimes.

Apparently, the supplier of bumpers could not keep up with the demand, upon which Ferrari got the from a second supplier too. One was sending the chromed ones, the other the non-chromed ones. I believe that both were used at the same time, so cars came off the factory line with one or the other version fitted.

Bottom line: The non-chromed ones ARE in fact also stock.

i have a 76 and they are black also and stock

did some of the 208gt4 come with black trim? i know the instrument panels are black instead of alloy color on the 2 liters

Also, thanks for the responses. I figured that Ferrari had used black bumpers. I could not imagine that so many people needed to replace the original ones.
