It was all over the Swedish news yesterday. And I guess enough news services here in the states heard about it that Koenigsegg.com was overrun with media and was bradykinetic for a while. I fielded a few phone calls from a few media outlets who were curious about the company. Should be interesting to see what happens with Saab now that it's in the hands of Christian von Koenigsegg.

    Speculation...?

This could be very cool if it's legit. Imagine the possibilies of Saab in the hands of Koenigsegg.

The fact that the Koenigsegg can run on Bio-diesel the possiblities of alternative energy they could come up with make it pretty exciting.

I just hope they keep them reasonably price and will turn out to be reliable.

Saab will maybe become a little "cooler". And GM got some much needed $$$$.

+1, Win-Win for everyone. The Swedes 'keep it in the family', the business stays healthy, GM gets paid (they need every dime), and the SAAB showrooms stay open.

This is awesome! The pairing of a turbocharging pioneer with an exotic maker can only mean good things for Saab. I can't wait to see what they dream up! Say hello to some new torque monsters!!

When I read about that my first question was: Who is going to finance it? Koenigsegg surely hasn't made $1 billion yet (that's what they say you need to get Saab up and running)...

My guess - Koeniggsegg builds an "affordable" exotic, perhaps branded by Saab.

Saab needs a halo car, and Koeniggsegg gets a dealer network. It's a win-win, and since it's all Swedish owned / run, it will stay true to the respective marques (although that's more urgent for Saab).

i had a good experience owning a 900 turbo cab in the mid 90's. gm really killed the brand imo. saab was way ahead of audi during that time and now its totally reversed. hope they can make it.

    "what will they make?"

Hopefully the bad ass Aero-X concept from a few years ago.

I too loved my 88 9000 Turbo 5 speed. For a non DI turbo 4 banger, it went about 130 mph, and I never got less than 600 miles/ 15.4 gallons (never once filled more than that in it's 17.9 gallon tank).

So, you Koenigsegg guys are gonna have to get a bigger lot to sell the new Koenigsegg 9-5 Aero CCX-R when it's priced at $75k?

Koenigsegg did NOT buy Saab, confirmed by Christian von Koeningsegg... The owners of Koenigsegg + some norwegians + one american ("the Koenigsegg group") bought Saab...

Said by Saab employees: Rather Norwegian than American.
LOL, GM, you had SO MUCH potential but you didn't use it.

I could not be happier with Koeningsegg buying SAAB.....our alternitives weren't very good! I actually think they will work with the Aero-X concept as a starting platform for a PR gig mabye naming it the Sonnet and making it slightly like the original. Though they will need to make the thing a little more realistic. All in All Saab is a company which has retained great ideas in their cars over the years and hopefully they will continue this with Koeningsegg being their owner. Not sure how many people realize that SAAB was the first car maker to put heated seats in a car.....look at how many cars have them now!

Now that Koenigsegg has backed out I have a feeling that Saab is going to end up like Saturn.
