Yellow 355 spyder on ebay

Has anybody seen this 1995 yellow 355 in Arizona on ebay. They are asking only $37k and it 42k miles. To me that sounds like an insane deal. I am about to purchase a blue 97 355 spyder with 24k miles for $55K. I had a PPI done and it checked out great. It is super clean. Am I making a mistake or overpaying. I spoke to my svc. tech and he thinks I am getting a great car for a great deal. What do you guys thinks?

Rest assured that you have done your due diligence on the car you are buying and it is in known condition. This other car is totally unknown to you and could definitely eat up the difference in $$ in a few months of ownership.

I think if you have found a well sorted car for the price you are prepared to pay then you should be over the moon. As my ex will soon realise, the grass in not greener.

If you are considering paying $55K for a 355, you are getting ready to get your head taken off. 355s are $40s cars at best. That's the new reality.

Give it another month and they'll be dropping another notch. Or two.

Lots of F-cars around, not much cash.

Come on, that figure is ludicrous. There is NO way one could purchase even a reasonable F355 for that amount. Of course, with this Obama-inspired economy, prices have dropped. However, well-sorted F355s are still bringing mid-$60s. F355s like Robbie's and Scotty's, in the high-$70s. Most of the really, really good cars are not found or sold through dealers or eBay, but by word-of-mouth.

I sold all 3 of mine off of ebay. Not through the auction process per se, but they were listed. All good cars, though the 308 was a little leaky.

I think 355s are $40s cars nowadays. And 348s are $30s cars. The last 12 months of Manheim auctions supports this.

you might be right about Manheim. However, I have heard that most of these cars need major svc. which will run around $10k. So, now you are in the 50's. The interiors are not so great either and but then again you might get lucky. I have been looking for the past 6 months and generally the 355's that are in the 40's usually have more than 40k miles on them. What do you all think?????????????

 

Low 50's seems about right for a well sorted out 355 with major done. Low to mid 40's no service, some miles and maybe some sticky stuff.

She's been for sale for over a month for like $42K and now there's a tremendous dip in pricing. Either they have it on floor plan and that's about what they've got in it and they gotta move it, or it's a cracked egg. My guess is cracked egg.

I know from the pics, it shows a major service stamp for 30K at 20K miles in Sept. 03 and no further records except for a recent oil change. Sounds like it's in need of a major, most likely cats, possibly valves, I'd be afraid of it.

It sold off eBay once for more money, but it's back up. Could've failed a PPI or something.

 

Looks like a money pit....major, cats, headers, valves easily another $20K on the purchase price.

 

I hate it when smarmy dealerships try to convey that the "30K Major Service is complete" when TIME (2003) tells us all otherwise, that another Major is now due. They are trying to prey on the uninformed and I understand that it's "buyer beware", but can't we please just be ethical and tell it like it is?...

A month ago, I may have bought this thing. I've learned a lot in my search thanks to you guys and gals on Fchat.

By the time you've got the cats, belts, valve guides (which look original in the picks), clutch plates FOR SURE, and drained the chocolate milk oil, you still have the cosmetic issues on the dash and the sticky stuff. Some poor guy is going to have $62K in a 40K mile 95! ...It's a shame.

I've offer him 28k for it seem's reasonnable plus the complete over hauled it's gonna cost me about 15k.
Man these 355 are cheaper and cheaper everyday!!!

 

Auction ended on the car early. Did someone buy this? I'm curious to see if it was a good buy or not...

I disagree with those figures. I think you are at least $10k-$15k too low. If you find a 355 for $40k, or a 348 for $30k, then they are more than likely POS.
