profound. always heartening to hear about brudders who had tough childhoods but made good nonetheless. i could bore you with some of my stories but i won't. just worried that the younger generation (my kids included) don't know the feeling of hardship and may not have the drive and/or toughness in the days to come. there is a saying that "there is no point knowing the price of everything when you know the value of nothing". peace.
True that! Life is too short. We should treasure all we have learnt and share. Help those in need when you can. When it comes down to it, we are all humans and the same. It is our morals and ethics that will differentiate us. I agree with Des, some of your worry is true and it is evident in my generation even. It is true some are more blessed than others in other aspects. While some squander it away, others make the most of it and do more. Then there are those who wallow in a cesspool and get deeper and deeper in. Nothing is more valuable than the true love that your family and loved ones can give. Dont forget that. We as humans are as different as one another, but it is only in this one lifetime we get to live life together and enjoy it! Lai la !!!!! Drive lao lor!!!!

Ah rags to riches stories are always pause for thought, I am always happy for people that make good, like some people would say... "good for you!" Seems like you still hate your dad alot, perhaps forgetting the past is a step forward from bitterness? I have issues with my family also, but as i get older I find its not for me to judge how the older generation behaved. Every child grows up thinking that their parents are their world, they can do no wrong etc, but parents are human too, they have their quirks, bad habits etc. Everyone is shortchanged in some way in life, some more so than others. Live and let live. Please dun presume I am fortunate, thats the problem with you Jon, everything you see or hear abt people you absorb, digg deeper (sex pun intended ) nothing is what it is like on the surface. Plus I am not out to irk anyone ESPECIALLY since I am not paid for it.
