I hav been lurking for quite a while and have found this forum to be quite informative. I am a new owner and have a few questions about the 599. 1. I picked up my car (first Fcar) a month ago. The car has some basic options but I did not add any carbon fiber extras. The only thing I have noticed is that I would like to have the paddles in carbon rather than the metal. Again, my first paddle shift car - previous cars include 997TT, E55, M5. Can the paddles be changed? Does the steering wheel need to be removed? Approx cost? 2. Car is an absoulte blast to drive, amazing power. How many miles can you get from the stock tires - assuming not tracking the car or starts resulting in billowing smoke? Do you have the dealer replace the tires or use specialty tire stores? Thanks
I've heard some people going thru a set of tires with no more than 4000 miles on them. Others have managed to get almost 10K. I have almost 6K on my original set and my tires are worn down aprox. 60%. I enjoy tracking my car but I don't considered it to be excessive. I will replace them in the spring and my dealer will do it. As long as my car is under warranty I won't let anyone else touch it. I've heard too many stories on this forum about improperly filled tires and tires coming off at speed and damaged CCB's because they were improperly bolted. Your car, your wallet, your call. As to replacing your paddles. There are some threads on this forum describing it being done on 360's & 430's. I just don't recall one about being done on a 599. I'm sure there are others that know more about this topic than me and can give you some particulars. A 599 is a incredible ferrari and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine..... and WELCOME!
+1 ..but if you have a trusted tire shop I don't see why the dealer should replace the tires. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My 599 has 15000 miles, the tires are 50% worn in the front, rears are about 70%. At the annual service the mileage was about 13000. The brakes were 20% worn, and the clutch 17%, maybe it was vice versa, but those numbers are close enough to be a reference, sorta. Malcolm
Your rears have 15K miles and have 30% left? Are they made of kevlar?! BTW, you have the V12 Trio of my dreams...275GTB/Daytona/599
