    Hey folks - I'm in the process of buying an engagement ring. Been to Tiffany's up by Friendship Heights and found some stuff I liked, but this thread has convinced me that it's probably worth my time to look elsewhere.

    Due to time constraints (see thread above), I'm pretty much circumscribed to the District itself. I live up by National Cathedral on Wisconsin and work over at Eastern Market, so anywhere in between is doable.

    Being a novice without any time to do a lot of comparison shopping, I could really use a place that I can just walk into without worrying about getting ripped off. I'm willing to pay a premium for the convenience/trust factor (which is why I started at Tiffany's), but have been convinced that I might be able to do better for the money.

    Budget is about $5-7k.

    Any suggestions are very much appreciated!

    Internet. I got a great deal a few months ago that local jewlers couldnt dream of coming close to. Alittle research will save you big $$$ 30%-40%

    Jason does mostly custom work. So, he can find you the stone you're looking for and make you the setting you want. At a lower price point than the retail stores.

    And, I don't disagree that the site needs help. But, he IS a jewelry, and not a website, designer.

    Certainly worth an email or phone call.
