Well, I went and pulled the trigger on a 2005 Carrera GT! Basalt (metallic) black/black.

I want to thank Roy and Kevin at Cats Exotics for walking me through every step of the purchase. Especially Kevin. It took a couple twists and turns as we negotiated price with the seller and put it through the PPI to separate fact from fiction. Kevin said all the right things, listened carefully, and advised as needed. Very cool.

In the end, great car, 7100 miles, incredibly clean.

Only took it on a short drive around the neighborhood to make sure everything was good with it. OMG, what a car! Nothing like my Ferraris. Nothing.

And, as other people have noted, there’s no stability control and almost no traction control (that I can detect). That combined with over 600hp makes life a little interesting. I rolled on the throttle in second only to about 4.5k rpms and the back end broke loose and started to come around. Took it in so I could change underwear.

I am definitely taking it out to a large, empty, parking lot someplace to get a feel for this thing. Tremendous (for me) power and no nannies can make for a very short ownership.

I’m also getting all new tires. Maybe they got a little hard since new. Whatever the case, the car broke loose way too easily. It seems to want to swap ends more than any other car I’ve driven. My F40 seems a lot more stable when on the boost and the tires scratching for grip.

With the little I experienced, it really seems as though one (me) should not venture much above 5-7/10ths on the country roads. It just seems frightfully fast.

Even though I drive an F40, it looks like I’ve gotten use to the electronic nannies in my F430 Spider. When in sport mode, you couldn’t do much that would upset the thing. That’s one thing that made it a lot of fun, and also not as engaging as I would like. I’m definitely “engaged” with my CGT! It seems to do what I want and when, even if I didn’t desire the full outcome.

I now have two cars, F40 and CGT, that I have to treat with incredible respect lest they bite me – hard.

Some sample pictures below. More to come.

    Congrats!

    It looks stunning.

I'm sure that it's a blast to drive. A CGT overtook me in a tunnel today. Those things also sound ferocious with the right exhaust!

Enjoy in health & safety! :)

I've only driven one once however it was all over the city and besides a MC12 and F-50 I have driven pretty much EVERY car ever made, everything from Enzo's to Gullwing benz's to brand new gt3's, XJ220's etc., and the CGT is my personal favourite car EVER and unless Porsche comes out with something to top that it will remain my favourite!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats! That's really a great car. One question though, while driving do you hear that insane exhaust note inside the car?

It's actually very muted from what I'm used to - which is nice for a change! I may want something in between straight pipes and stock. Maybe. Right now, I’m just concentrating with keeping it on the road! ;-)

Congrats on a very nice car, one of the best sounding cars of all time in my opinion.

The CGT is one of the purest drivers cars out there with little room for error, so drive safely and respect it and I'm sure it will reward you!

Wow! Congrats, Tim. You're my first stop on my next trip to CA! I can't wait to hear her and compare it to the F40.

BTW, where do you find parts diagrams for CGTs online? There are a number of Ferrari parts sites that have diagrams, but I haven't found a Porsche CGT one yet. Workshop manuals?

Ahem, so much new to learn...

Tim...congrats my friend! The CGT has to be one of the most rewarding drives in modern day exotics.

I took mine out for the first time in a couple of months and came away sweaty and damp palmed. Such an amazing machine with all the right sounds and looks. Be careful its a very steep learning curve and can be very unforgiving.

Beautiful car Tim. I think the CGT is my second favorite car of all time (just behind the Zonda F CS).

I went back many a time to Roy's website to see if it had sold already!
