This house, called "Harmony," is by Wallace E. Cunningham.
It can be viewed on his website, or better yet, in the book "Art Invention House," by Michael Webb.

I know what you mean. Trying to build a modern home in upsate NY was a hassle. Thankfully, I had this old German bulder who was a tight as tight could be! He was able to foresee issues before they became problems. Agree that its easy to waste money making changes! Nice place!

This contemporary style house features a facade of white with natural wood volumes at each end, supported by “legs.” This stilt house incorporates outdoor entertaining areas as part of its plan, inviting the warm Spanish sun and sea breeze inside. Like the exterior, minimalist interiors feature a contemporary palette of while with warm wood finishing floors and the staircase leading up to the second level

How about starting your own like I did, after 6 yrs of college and 15 years of hand to hand combat working for other oil companies, and 16 yrs of building my own company. It is not as easy as you might think.

    Nice!

A clean organic and modernist design, materials appropriate, well integrated to site and overall environment.

I like this much better than the psuedo-retro stuff or the schizo Gehry-esque constructions.

Of course it's not easy! That's why I would sue them with my existing business rather than change industries... ;)

When I left my first firm, I actually applied for positions with several last year just in time for the crash. No dice. Nothing going with consulting firms either. Friends in consulting and finance said weather the storm in the law industry and wait things out. So I started another law firm.

The industry ebbs and flows with commodity prices. The larger the company, the more the inertia carries everyone there thru the lows. The 'really' small companies that are successful tend to build business plans around the half cycle life of commodity price amplitudes and sell to medium sized and larger companies while prices are up. If you have major O&G skills, you might look at finding a creative partnership with a good track record that has enough transaction activity to warrant inside counsel, perhaps even on a partner level.

My group constantly reinvented itself based on opportunities, and some required very hefty legal expertise, but we always went for outside counsel because of the wide variance of our business plans and the need to find the best of the particular niche we went after. You need to find a company that has a narrow bandwidth in business plans (repititive would be ideal) but is smart and experienced with successful purchase and exit strategies.

This one is located in Bucks County, PA. In an area known for the quaint 200+ year old farm houses, which I also adore, this contemporary house is something a bit different but is really quite nice. It's clean, cozy, and I'm particularly fond of the view out of the den and the kitchen. I happen to think Bucks County is one of the more beautiful [and affordable] areas of the country.

I went to this open house in Palm Springs about a year & a half ago... drop dead beautiful house. Wanted to take photos, but they wouldn't allow it (signs posted). So had to get these photos off a website. Stunning house.
Yes, that's a swimming pool (& Jaccuzi) in the front of the house, after you enter the front gate... and one in the backyard (larger pool w/ jaccuzi). Those slider doors are power, & at least 10 feet tall. Three panes of glass moving/sliding into the walls (& out of sight) in most of the rooms. You can see the entire house opens up, if you open the front yard & back yard glass motorized sliders. Unbelievable thought put into EVERY detail of this house. Anybody have more details on it?

Love this house too. Someone else posted quite a few photos of the grounds/exterior shots of this house located off Sunset Blvd. in LA. I like this photos the best.

That's a great house, quite "in context" for the area though it stands very well on its own as an original work.

Therw was a good architectural mind behind it.
