Actually, it won't *stay* up! I put it up for pictures and by the time I got the camera, it had sunk back down a few inches. Oh oh. First repair...

    Tim......

Common problem..........the 996TT has 2 hydraulic pistons that raise and lower the rear spoiler into the 70 mph airflow, and they fail quite regularily.

Probably the exact same part in the CGT. Cost about $800 CAD to fix on a 9976TT......done about 6-7 repairs of them.

CGTs are looking more and more amazing as time goes on.

How is reliability/maintenance costs on CGT's?

Also major difference between model years?

The F40 will always be my first love due to its simple unadorned rawness, but the CGT is a close second! I’ve had the F40 now for 3 years and every single drive is incredible, simply incredible. When the boost comes on at 3.5k, the software exec is replaced by a twelve year old giggling school kid enjoying life anew. :)

However, I’ve only had the CGT a very short time and haven’t gotten to really explore it. Ask me the same question in about a year, especially after I’ve learned how to keep the rubber side down and pointing forward!

    Thanks again, Roy!

You and Kevin were simply great to work with. I’ve had a couple of false starts looking for a CGT but this time it stuck.

I just hope I wasn’t too much of a pain customer asking a gazillion questions along the way. I’m sure I drove you guys a little crazy over the few weeks we were searching for just the right CGT. ;-)

    Very cool, very happy.

    Mordalo....

It's a common 996 TT issue.......I was assuming parts commonality on the CGT, I don't own one.

Perhaps my all time dream car...drove a friends once and what a beast!! It takes talent to drive the car to its fullest but it really is a street legal race car....btw, what do you think of the clutch up take thats supposed to be such a problem...i got used the clutch after just a few minutes and I didnt think it was the big deal everyone made it out to be....enjoy in good health...

Tim, congrats on finally getting in a CGT! Beautiful color

Seppy, my friend (and your neighbor in Breck) caught on the first time and never had a problem driving through Summit County. You're right, it's not a big deal. I think the automotive writers made more of a big deal than it should have been. In their defense, they probably only have a few hours to drive before handing in the keys.

    How's the house coming along?

Judging by driving mine, it is finding first gear correctly when you first get the car, as you tend to find third until you are used to it and that is why so many people stall them. :):)

Ha! Finding reverse was my problem! Really had to push that stick over to get past the stiff spring for the first time. :)

Now that you know how hard to push for reverse, finding first is a lot easier. :)
