    Does anyone have a pic of the US headers with the aluminum heat shielding removed? I know the US headers are a bit more restrictive, but I to what extent? They cant be that restrictive considering US cars can make Euro power with a bit of tweaking.

    Don't have a picture, but I had/sold a set of US 308 carbed manifolds that had had the heat shielding removed, and, AFAIK, the flanges/tubes/collector are identical to the euro headers (i.e., the US carbed 308 exhaust manifold is just a euro manifold with the heat shielding added).

    I have a set of euro manifolds off the car, I can take pictures of those if you want.
    My 1976 US GTB i believe has stainless steel manifolds and the euro is made of steel which is prone to crack ( thinner material ?? )

    I am mainly interested in seeing US headers without their heat shield, but if the headers are the same I guess there is no point to it. Stainless manifolds are the best upgrade then

    I'm in the process of removing all the shielding and extraneous bits myself before I weld up the ports and have them coated. Here ya go...

    i have been told by a guy with who knows these cars well mechanically that the US header tubes are smaller diameter than euro versions. now this is comparing a 78 US 308 with comparable euro headers.

    Maybe, but doing such a thing as making the tube diameter smaller would definitely be counter-productive on Ferrari's end. The extra tooling necessary just doesn't make financial sense considering there really is no need for the tubing to be smaller to pass emissions. Plus, US cars, especially carb cars, are tuned to Euro outputs or more all the time. Narrow headers would prevent this. I call foul lol

    While I have never compared, I too share the "opinion' it's the same unit, with cladding added.

    The tubing flange opening is indeed smaller than the port in the heads, by a mm or so.......

    Also, if the headers were different than the exhausts different manufacturers carry would have to accept the smaller exhaust flanges. Unless only the primary pipes were smaller diameter, but still......I call foul!

    So the EURO rear header points towards the driver side, where the US one points towards the passenger side , correct?
