One more picture at the Nurburgring in 2008. On this day there were a large number of Australian registered Ferrari's at the ring. Apparently the Ferrari club of Aust was doing some sort of European tour and had shipped all their cars over. There were plenty there, but of course this is my favourite. When it was on the track it drove rather slow, and just after this shot was taken it pissed down with rain, so it was a wise choice to go slow I guess.

Yes, i'm pretty sure you are correct. What other history do you have about the car?

I have some other pics of the car, I don't think any cars were actually delivered with leather seats...I know Mansell's F40 had leather seats at one point (although delivered with original nomex seats) Boxer365 has also mentioned that the head of Connolly leather did his up in leather as well. Some people bolster the areas around the seat belt inserts with leather to prevent wear.

Great pics... looks like all (normal) colours would suit an F40 !

Would anyone have pics of the F40 when it was it was display at the Paris Motor Show in 1988 (Sept. 29 to Oct. 9) ? There were two chassis: #77920 and #77978, one on the Ferrari-Pozzi stand, one on the Pininfarina stand (but couldn't figure out which chassis was where).

Thats interesting Marc, would be nice to find those pictures. I knew that 74049 was shown at Paris in 1987 but never knew they displayed other F40's the next year....makes sense though. Thanks a lot, now I HAVE to see those pics :)

I've seen a couple of those cars in Houston. Is that somewhere in Texas?

Current issue of Octane Magazine picks the best cars of the last 100 yrs...their pick for the greatest car of the eighties was the F40, narrowly edging the 288GTO and 959. While their opinion is much like anyone elses in terms of value, its a nice issue and packed with great articles. Issue #78 December 2009

Good choice on there end. Although it should be best road car of the "late 80's to early 90's" LOL.
