Curious about the 'Virgin racing team' - would have thought Branson got pretty good bang for his buck with Brawn this year?
He mentioned in an interview on the race grid at one of the final races that he enjoyed being with Brawn this year but wanted to help other "new" teams.

The first day of young driver testing at Spain's Jerez circuit was an opportunity for several to discover the workings and feelings of a Formula One car. Although a few had previous experience at the wheel of F1 machinery, it was a day of discovery nonetheless. "Today was a dream day," said F2 champion Andy Soucek, who recorded the fastest lap of the day with Williams. "I could imagine myself near the front but I never expected to finish at the top of the times. "This has been an amazing year for me in terms of motorsport and I think I deserve a seat in Formula One next year," the Spaniard insisted. "I'm doing everything in my hands to secure a drive and I think my performance in this test will help big time." Paul di Resta was only a couple of tenths behind at the wheel of a Force India VJM02. "I wasn't trying to go for a time as such, just to get the most out of the car and myself to set up for the coming two days. In the end I could set a good time, but this wasn't the overall goal for today," he said. "The team will have a different approach tomorrow and we will be testing some 2010 development parts." "I don't think I stopped smiling all day," said fourth-best Daniel Ricciardo, who is working with Red Bull. "This was the first time I've ever driven a Formula One car round corners, having previously only done a straight line test and I have to say, it's got more grip than anything else I've ever driven." Fifth-fastest Jules Bianchi truly enjoyed his day and made it obviously clear. "I am really proud to have made my Formula One debut at the wheel of a Ferrari, for the greatest team in the world," the Frenchman stated. "The team spirit here is incredible and I hope I have made a positive impression on them and I want to do even better tomorrow." Although the German manufacturer is leaving F1, the BMW Sauber team was back on track in order to offer American driver Alexander Rossi the test drive he deserved for his great performances in the Formula BMW series. "It is impressive what the car does, how predictable and precise its reactions are, and how high the overall grip level is," Rossi reported after setting the day's seventh-best time. "Physically I have to say it was as demanding as I expected it would be. The power steering is a great help compared to GP2, but the G forces obviously are higher." Bertrand Baguette, sitting in the ockpit of the Renault R29, established the ninth-quickest lap at Jerez on his F1 debut: "This was my first time in an F1 car and I really enjoyed it. "There's a huge difference between the F1 car and a World Series car, especially the efficiency of the brakes, which is incredible, and the speed you can carry through the quick corners," he explained. "Also, it's a completely different world and I've been getting used to working with five or six engineers instead of just one." Along with Paul di Resta, Indy Lights champion JR Hildebrand shared the Force India team's test programme today. The American appears in tenth position on the timesheets after his maiden F1 test. "I was really impressed with the ability of the car," the American said. "It is different in every way to what I'm used to, both in terms of the outright speed, but also in terms of the characteristics of the car and how it behaves, brakes and drives through corners. "Having raced on ovals I'm used to a high top speed, so that wasn't too much of a shock, but the amount of load it runs and how much speed you can carry through the corner took some getting used to," Hildebrand pointed out. Not as quick as Horse though, he's 3 seconds ahead. On a serious note not bad considering its his first true run in a F1 car. Would be good if he could pick up a drive next year. These lap times may help. Still a number of empty seats for 2010.
The final test of the year concluded this afternoon at Jerez with 16 young drivers driving for nine teams. Daniel Ricciardo completed his third day of running with Red Bull Renault, impressing once again and setting the fastest time of the week on a 1:17.418s best. The British F3 champion has impressed this week and has been linked to the second seat at Toro Rosso alongside Sebastien Buemi for next season. These last three days have been an incredible experience for me, he said. I would like to thank Red Bull for giving me this great opportunity, which has made me even more determined to make it into F1 one day. I know it was just a test, but seeing my name on the top of todays timesheet was really something special.
Thats great news regarding Torro Rosso JM. You've been behind this young guy for a while. Do you know him or are just genuinely interested in his achievments as he comes from WA?
Known his parents and him since I arrived in WA. They are FCA members - have several F Cars and a delightful couple. He's a great kid, with an infectious personality and of course we are behind him 100%.
well done its an acheivement he should be very proud of no matter the outcome, he joins a very elite group, another member ! I hope he gets his chance would be very cool to have a WA guy on the grid !
