Interesting article: http://www.motorsport-aktuell.com/formel-1/news/kuriose-personal-suche-11338.html And this time it is not from Benoit, but from a very legitimate source: USF1 is trying to hire PR folks. Their main issue is that these are mature folks who couldn't get them into a sexual harassment lawsuit. To me this is beyond bizarre: Instead of hiring engineers, aerodynamicists and mechanics PeeWee is focusing on hiring PR folks and his main concern is a lawsuit for sexual harassment. Doesn't this sound like completely backwards in priorities? Unless of course your intent is not to build a racing team, but merely its ueber structure...
The carbon fiber toasters aren't selling fast enough... so PeeWee tried to come out with carbon fiber d****s... ...hence the sexual harrassment suit...
That is a possibility. The concern though is the project timeline. Funding for any project should be largely in place before proceeding. I hate to say it but it looks like this should not have been made public with the short deadline. All of this should have happened last year/early this year. With only a few weeks to go I don't see the possibility of this team making the grid in the conventional sense with a competitive car. Personally I feel sorry for Windsor, he took this public without it being a sure thing and it looks as if it is going to end in tears and embarrassment for him. I still can't believe Matchett "took one for the team" with the "USF1 headquarters segment". Hobbs and Varsha having nothing to do with it spoke volumes... As much as we make fun of the USF1 fiasco, deep down I really do feel sorry for Windsor because this is a public humiliation on a par with Milli-Vanilli. "USF1 the Milli-Vanilli of Formula 1" It will be hard for Windsor to stroll the GP scene or maybe even show his face in public without having it brought up.
That is a valid point. With Max running around in public with the hooker video there is nothing anyone can say to dispute that. ...Before you know it we'll have Windsor in black dreadlocks in a video singing "Girl You know it's true" in front of USF1 headquarters...LOL
I can't help wondering at possible Vegas odds for USF1 qualifying 2 cars in the top 10 for the 2010 first race. (100,000:1) Vegas odds for USF1 qualifying 2 cars period for the 2010 opening race. (100:1) Vegas odds for USF1 not making the grid for the 2010 opening race.(1:87) Should provide amusement for some F1 fans....
Alright I'll do it. Not the cleanest English, but better than googlefish. Strange hiring process The new team USF1 continues to hire people for its introduction into the 2010 season, which is beleagured by many doubts. The Americans remain the big conundrum on the current list of nominations by the FIA for the 2010 season. The number of insiders, who doubt the participation of USF1 is bigger than the group of folks believing in them. Nonetheless the team of American Ken Anderson and Briton PW continues to work on the entry behind stage. Currently they are trying to hire appropriate personnel for the press department. In this area there has been a change in F1 in the recent years: More often than not the good looks of the primarily female employees is more important than their competence. USF1 wants to go a different route: Not by conviction, but because the American HQ forces them to. In the US there was a case which got the managers of the new team concerned: A driver jokingly called a lovely press lady "darling", which caused her to threaten to sue for sexual harassment. In the US this could cause multi million dollar fines. USF1 doesn't want to risk that. Therefore the managers currently only talk to potential new hires with a perfect reputation and deep knowledge. They are male or female, but preferrably at an advanced age. The problem however: So far they only got declines.
Here are Jerez times: 1. Gary Paffett McLaren-Mercedes 1min 18.718secs 80 laps 2. Nico Hülkenberg Williams-Toyota 1min 19.184secs 94 laps 3. Mirko Bortolotti Toro Rosso-Ferrari 1min 21.761secs 79 laps Comparable time: [Posted during testing on 1 March] Sebastian Vettel Red Bull-Renault 1min 19.055secs 87 laps . . . . . . sorry...maybe I'm blind... ...but where's the USF1 times...I'm confused... I've looked over and over the times and I can't find any times for USF1... can someone explain this to me?
I can understand it too. What I don't understand however is that they're preoccupied with hiring PR folks instead of engineers, aerodynamicsts, mechanics, drivers etc. None of the new teams were in Jerez as it wasn't a car test but a young driver shoot out. Doesn't really apply here.
Andreas get with the times. Today the idea of a team is far more important than the reality. USF1 is the first team to exist only in people's minds. Once you free yourself from the physical all is possible.
LOL I'am wondering whether you could earn yourself some serious beer with this...No I'am not betting ..
kraftwerk, you have been a staunch defender of these guys. Maybe the word 'defender' is too strong. You have taken a decidedly "wait and see" approach and are willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt. As I read your posts on this forum--you and I have agreed and disagreed many times--the one thing that does not characterize you is the word "indecision." You have always had strong opinions and have stepped up and defended them. Right or wrong (and we ALL have been right and wrong), you have always taken a stand and have been decisive. With US F-1, you are hedging. Do you know something? Are you losing a step in your old age? Are you mellowing? What gives? PS. Whomever wrote Milli-Vanilli . . . that was the funniest thing I have read in a long time.
They just hired a couple very experienced guys from Don Panoz's Elan industries. They still intend to make something.
