I have now driven 5 cars, only 2 are STi, the first was not tidy enough for me and the second was a minter but its on a yard and it is at least 30% over priced. As most of the WRX's here are JDM spec there was very little difference between the STi and the JDM sedan from a test drive point of view. The STi's seem to be more abused than the standard WRX's I have seen. This leans me towards the standard WRX's as I really want a tidy standard car.... The search continues.....
I agree, it has 17k on the window and I said to the sales guy it's a mile away from where I think the market is, gave him 2 examples of similar cars priced sub 10k (on Internet car sales site). I said this is a nice one so its probably a bit more than those other cars but not 17k, I never actually put a figure on it as I just can't see them moving as far as I think they need to.... Happy to pass on that one and keep looking, there are plenty around. Just need to find the gem among the stones...
Hey mate. I looked at a few, but then decided to think with my head rather than my heart and I bought a house with the money. Im now going to wait and get into a 360 in about 4-5 years time.
I have a 2.5lt STi motor stroked to 2.7lt with Billet Crank, Forged Rods and Pistons and Iron Sleeves.....heads are ported with oversized valves, upgraded valve springs, Custom Cams.....motor can rev to 8000rpm. I use a 700hp T67 Greddy twist mount Turbo with large rear exhaust housing, 42mm external wastegate, FMIC, 900cc injectors, Microtech ECU, 6 Speed STi Gearbox, upgraded brakes, clutch, flywheel, Coilvers, strut braces, underbody braces, ect ect the mod list is endless lol...........I also have Nitrous if need be (not needed haha) On my road setup it runs 21psi boost at makes 310kw atw. High boost is 27psi and it makes 355kw atw.........I have also done 50hp shot of nitrous on high boost and it did 381kw atw on the dyno. All in a classic WRX (2000 model) so its lighter than the new ones. Goes like stink! 2 years of fuss free driving, But it is a weekender so dont drive it that often.
thanks heaps. Im really happy about my decision also. and yes 4-5 years isnt far, and then I can get a newer 360 which would be awesome! Something to work hard for!
I "should" have bought 2 more houses (2x deposits) with the cash I paid for my 348 back in 2005. I could have had 6 invesment properties now and probably be driving a 430 instead of a 348. But I dont regret making that decision in the least. You only live once and I love having my Ferrari in the garage. Even if I only drive it once in a blue moon, its special experience everytime and I am grateful to be one of the lucky ones that gets to drive a Ferrari whenever I want. But you have to do whats right for you and I am glad you are happy with the house. I LOVE properties myself. Best of luck with the 360 in a few years mate. They will be worth as much as a 348 in around 5 yrs time from now anyways.
I sold 2 investment properties to buy my 355, I have probably lost less money in the 355 than the investors who brought those 2 properties. However in the next 36 months the property values will rise again and then the investor's will be back in the black...if they made it through the rough stuff that is. I have been giving some serious though to getting another property, lots of cheap cash out there and I think the market is starting to pick up again.
cheers PAP, thanks for the help and info you gave me while I was looking. Yeah heres hoping in 5 years a nice 360 will be about 100k - 110k...........hahaha!
Had a WRC edition while in Sydney, WORST turbo lag of any car i have ever driven. So bad [ie just taking off from a stop sign or traffic lights] thought there was something wrong with it. Its common to this and *maybe* just this edition? NOT recommended. Don\\\'t forget, lower it, huge tail pipe, doof-doof stereo, and wear a tracksuit with a backwards faced cap, etc, and you will fit right in fine! I hate the ufckers, and the set it attracts Cheers
Found a 99 WRX V5 sedan (JDM) in white with low kms and it is totally standard, nice condition (maybe mint but hard to get a true indication from photos) although the bonnet needs respray due to stone chips. There are no modifications at all which suits me perfectly, it's not the STi I wanted but it has the same engine output and some of the STi goodies, alloy bonnet, short shift etc.... I am heading 340kms down the country tomorrow to check it out and hopefully bring it home.
LOL!! Nope, not yet. The owner has not traded it as yet, I have arranged to receive a call as soon as that happens
Well, this just fell over. I've talked to the guy 4-5 times and last spoke to him this morning to let him know I will travel down tomorrow, all good. Then an hour or so ago I get a text message saying "Hi James, I have spoken to my wife and we have decided not to sell the WRX, sorry." It's been listed for sale for over a month and they decide not to sell now?? It would seem these are hard cars to get your hands on.....the search continues....
Thanks mate.... Maybe this is meant to be, just found a 98 STi wagon that looks to be very tidy, it is a V4 and silver in color. The color does nothing for it has gold wheels at the moment so that's not helping. I would have the wheels refinished if I buy it. Going to arrange to look at it tomorrow.....
Guess you'd go for a red ferrari to hah. BTW, driving to Sydney on the 4th of Jan. Will contact you closer to the date.
Ahh some things are just meant to *be* in the natural order lol. Subie - Blue F-car - Red, Yellow definitely, I would have to toss a coin on that one if ever in the position.. even a deep Blue with right interior (tan) would work too! I've seen some interesting 458 config combos posted up, eg White with chocolate interior.. bit brave but interesting still! I'll stock up on the ginger nuts then lol.
FU Silver looks hot of rexes My silver is different to a 98 silver but still gold rims only work on the blue or gunmetal colours. if you get blue get some 555 stickers(haha some clowns in sydney have done just that).
(458 white/choc is *drool*) Hmmm, blue would be nice but I was hoping for a white one, but silver is OK I guess, I had a play in MS paint with a photo from the add and it looks like a 5 year old was let loose with some colored marker pens But once the gold wheels are gone and the indicators are updated to clear units it starts to look quite nice... I just spoke to the owner, he is a member of our air force (didn't realise we had any aircraft in order to need an air force??) and he sounds like a good sort, the car has had a aftermarket exhaust fitted but he said it is not loud and he did it for flow so that sounds OK, here's hoping its as tidy as the photo's say it is... 555 stickers are not my cup of tea....there is a nice white STi sedan for sale here with those stickers all over it, guys dreaming on his price too. Thinking I'll paint the rims gunmetal.... You getting another soon?
